i take that statement with a grain of salt, since bmw says that for almost all of their cars.

Is anyone else surprised by the 0-60 time of 4.7 (shaving a tenth off the 0-100km time)?? The speculation in the mags has been all over the board from low 4's to "below 5", but I certainly expected a 4.5 or maybe a 4.6... I know I'm splitting hairs here but it's a stat worth splitting hairs over, IMHO.

Or is this a marketing ploy by BMW, whereas much like when the RS4 came out Audi posted 0-60 time of 4.8 but it has actually tested quicker than that. I can see BMW doing the same thing with the "dealer pamphlet" times but when the mags eventually get their hands on the car posting much faster times just to make us all drool even more...

Typical conservative early figure. Be assured it will be in the 4.3-4.5 range.

For $65K + you can get the new M3 spoiler. A a prize you get the M3 for free. Or, you could ATTEMPT to catch a M3 in your PROcede 335 and steal it; NOT.
On second thought, maybe you'd be better off waiting until the M was parked.

This has been discussed ad infinitum on this board. BMW is oftern quite conservative in quoted times. Mags often get way better. Most think it'll do around 4.5 and maybe low 4's with M-DCT (if it launches properly...). In short I would not worry.

Here is test in France M3 vs RS4, somewhere around 2:45minutes of test there is 0-100km/h race! If Audi makes 4.8s then M3 is much faster, take a look at video!

Examine that power map at the top of this post. That makes for the kind of flexibility that does not require rowing the gearshift in the mountains like a Japanese high rev 4 banger.

Any respectable German carmaker will state a number that the car can make under varied pressure, moisture, temperature situations. Let the other automakers cherry pick their fastest time on the fastest day and publish that. You will be guaranteed that the German car can make what they claim in suboptimal conditions. You will also be guaranteed that when the Auto Mags get hold of the liar car, that they will struggle to meet the claimed 0-60 times if there is exageration. Car and Driver in wet conditions during an early M3 test confirms the wisdom of this methodology by almost fawning over the potential they were not able to mine due to the conditions.

All that aside the autobahn is always a rolling start, so if you can shift worth a 5h!t you will have engaged the gear that puts you at the sweet spot of the torque and HP curve. Then when the little Red Renault Clio with the plush suction cup stick toy on the back window finally gets out of the left lane you can bulldoze the loser Audi out of the way too.
