Funny how the largest //M market gets screwed all the time.
It's also interesting that Porsche is able to bring over numerous low volume cars and get them certified, but BMW can't... so they claim.

I have covered this topic many times before.
The simple answer is that US customers especially for the M3 will not give up the car's luxuries and premium features in favour of a stripped out Performance model. Porsche can do that but BMW cannot because there is not near enough customers to warrant the costs in federalizing the car.

The M3 CRT is here because the Sedan is close to the end of production and of course extinction. An M3 Coupe running the same philosophy as the CRT but with further progress will be announced in 2012 prior to the end of M3 production.

Are you saying that it has already decided that the E92 M3 version of the CRT definitely will not be coming to the United States?

SCOTT, your insight is GREATLY appreciated here, and I remember you saying many M3's are purchased fully loaded WITH the sunroof, which is sad to me.
BUT, if you look at all the people who MANY thousands of dollars to mod their cars here, don't you think BMW could come up with, say 500-1,000 buyers of a GTS/CLS type car in the US. They could even keep the engine stock to keep costs down; or maybe "blue print" it if it makes any extra power, though doubtful with modern manufacturing tolerances.

Give us something with real brakes, adjustable suspension, OEM splitter, OEM wing/spoiler or CSL type trunk, lighter exhaust, less content and lighter weight. Maybe make a bolt in half roll bar optional. It shouldn't cost BMW that much to make such a car since all the parts are already develped for the car. I understand the current //M buyer is not much of an enthusiast, but Audi has the RS like, MB has the Black Series and BMW doesn't have anything like that.
BMW didn't expect the original M3 to sell like it did, and now it's an icon.

PS. Any reason why colored stiching is so much money? Don't they make the seats right before the car is ready for them. Does it cost that much to throw in a different color thread?

Thanks again for all your insight.

Does anyone know, what exact brakes there are on?

clearly same like M3 GT4 race car, GTS and now CRT.

I want the front axle system on my car.

Will it fit M3 e92 stock wheel carrier?
Has anybody some more info?

caliper spacer mount?
2-part rotor exact size measuremet??

normally its standard 2-piece AP discs 378x32
with aluminium bells (I could rebuild these if I have measurements)

Looking forward to help !!!

I just noticed... the angel eyes in the pictures are not yellow. Did BMW find a way to fit the LED AEs onto the M3 or is this another non-US thing like front PDC on the M3?

You bring up a good example. Audi took forever to decide to bring the TT RS to the US. The TT sales (TT + TTS) are extremely low in the US (a 100 cars a month) if you compare that to the volume of an E92 regular 3 series and probably too compared to the E92 M3. Now they did bring it over and as far as I know it sold already over the 300 they thought they will bring over here.

I think cars like an M3 CRT or GTS are "halo" cars which can't be viewed as direct profit generators but as cars to "build" the brand. I mean come on - how can BMW bring home the point of producing the "ultimate drinving machine" - with more X6M's or X5M's or with a limited run of M3 GTS's or CRT's???

Granted, in order to do that the car guys withing BMW NA have to beat out the beancounters - something they were succesfull at Audi with the TT RS (but failed with countless other Audi RS and S Models....). I'm just saying - have some balls BMW and bring those cars over here!

Maybe we should start pester the BMW Facebook page and email inboxes with requests to send those cars to NA -agreed, the Audi Facebook TT RS petition might have been just a marketing gag - but why not? Can't hurt!!

yah - it also costs 187,000 dollars. if i was going to put an m3 on juice i'd get the bmw performance cf parts, performance seats, performance steering wheel, ESS supercharger, brembo brakes, and wider wheels & tires. then you have something that's way faster for around $120,000

I wonder if there will ever come a day when people realize prices don't translate directly between markets and if this car were made available in the US it would cost many tens of thousands less than everyone is assuming it would.

The M3 CRT is 130K with tax included. A loaded M3 sedan in Germany costs 100K with tax included. The F10 M5 base price is 100K with tax included.

no point in translating the price into USD.

BMW will only make 67 M3 CRT's. They were all sold on the day it was announced. Check how resale does on a modded M3 versus this in a few years. Its a great car and priced appropriately. It will also run circles around an M5.

Difficult comparing via FX, but more importantly when is someone going to make CRT style front lips made of polyeurethane!
