No, the moonroof is lighter b/c there is a hole in the roof.

I prefer the CF but that is just personal preference. I think it is part of what defines the current M3. If you can feel the weight difference then I would be shocked. If it were me, get the roof you "like" the best not because one will result in better performance.

P.S... it is actually refreshing that we can now argue CF vs. sunroof for a while instead of sedan vs coupe or 6MT vs DCT. It's been like a month since we argued this topic

I think you get about 10HP increase from the CF roof.
Only Kidding

I think it is a matter of personal taste really. I heard the CF roof lowers the center of gravity and is more rigid than the sunroof. Not sure if you would notice unless you plan on tracking it alot

CF roof saves 11lbs over non-moonroof, 45lbs over moonroof.

I have nothing against the CF roof, I just prefer the idea of opening the moonroof when the weather collaborates.

I opted for the moonroof. My last 4 cars have had them, I can't go back. If I were going to track the car then I would've gone CF. I assure you I AM NOT.

lol

The additional weight from the moonroof over the CF is not that significant to me. I'm not running time trials at the track. I hit the track to get the most enjoyment out of my car and hopefully improve my driving ability.

I can understand choosing the CF roof for the additional head room when wearing a helmet. I can also understand choosing the CF roof if the owner likes the way it looks or doesn't want to deal with electrical/mechanical issues in the future.

I just hate it when people tell me that since the CF roof is lighter, it makes it faster/better. The time difference between the two is incredibly minor at best.

Just my opinion.

in my opinion 10, 20, 50 lbs wont make that much of a difference

its all about what you like. i chose cf roof because it gave me more of a sport call feel.

the moon roof is cool too.. girls like it thats for sure.

im not planning to cut my lap times by .1 second anytime soon so imo either way is cool.

In my opinion, it is mostly for looks! I love it on some colors such as white, orange, ...
If I was buying a black M3, I would get the moon roof. But I have a Alpine White and it looks so good with CF and FR interior IMO

No, moonroof is heavier because there is a moon on the roof.

Just get the vert and you can avoid this debate again. Jk. People, we are lucky that we have so many choices in this great car. I would get a cf roof for myself but as you see I have a e93 in my garage which my wife adores. I have to admit the e93 m is a wonderful driving experience. But shit it weighs 400 pounds more the e92 m. I keep trying to convince myself the coupe is the way to go. That argument gets harder each time I drive her car. Aka Cherry.
