Non zcp car regrets

I purchased a non zcp m3, I am having a lot of regrets, I am even considering trading it in for a zcp car, any aftermarket products that can be installed that is comparable or better that a zcp equipped m3, can the dealer upgrade the suspension to make it a zcp? The edc I am bot too concerned about.

Yeah, how about some coilovers, and some BBS CHR's, you'll be looking a lot better than a ZCP.

Just buy some KW Coil Overs and HRE wheels and be done with it. ZCP is a waste of money unless you leave the suspension & wheels alone.

GC or KW sleeve kit...reasonably priced and better than ZCP.

Dinan or KW CS Coilovers + BBS or HRE wheels will get you better than zcp but also more expensive.

I've got Dinan stage 3 and awhile back did a review on my home track with a zcp and then my car liked mine much better but had a few other upgrades as well This retains EDC, but if your not concerned, a coilover kit will do great and if you're looking for track performance wider, better rubber will get you there real quick.

Ive had Bilstein PSS 9/10 coils before and they were good...easy to adjust too...just get on the ground and reach...as long as you dont get the Bilstein Damptronics B16 model which I believe are Porsche PASM only, you will be fine...Damptronics has end link issues and are crap.

Reasonably prices for full coils the Bilstein...yeah I would do full coilovers if you dont have EDC to begin with.

I don't think you should have any regrets. If you're planning on modifying the car anyways I think it's probably better you got the non-ZCP.

Just get some nice coilovers like the KW V3 or CS. Or you can get a sleeve kit like the KW Sleeve-Kit or Ground Control.

If you're not looking to spend too much you can get some springs like H&R, Dinan, Eibach, RDSport, etc.

And just pick up a set of whatever wheels you like (ADV.1, DPE, BBS, etc.)

Your car will be 10x better than a ZCP equipped car

What is the advantage if a sleeve kit?

It lets you use your existing strut (even EDC) but gives you an adjustable collar so that you aren't stuck with where the spring sits/settles. Full coil overs are going to be the better option though because an out of range shock is less effective.

Curious why you are having regrets? If you just want a little drop and ZCP wheels, those are easy fixes. Some listed above or something as simple as Eibach springs (or similar) would give you the same look. Loads of ZCP wheels for sale in the classified section and would be too much more if you sold your existing 220s. Not worth buying a whole new car over...

^ +1 yeah seriously, you regret it b/c it doesn't "look" as good?

He provided easy solutions. As far as whether ZCP adds any performance to the car, i think it's barely noticiable even if you're a race car driver. Us average Joes who doesn't even track our cars will not notice any performance gains.

I'm actually regretting getting EDC!

Bilstein PSS10s are just as good if not better than KW V3's, so the answer is yes. I would get em.

I think I will get the stage 3 suspension, and powder-coat my current wheels black.... I don't think that would be cost prohibitive and will definitely give the car a more aggressive look. I'll post pictures when done.

And does your car have EDC?

I test drove a ZCP and standard M3 w/o EDC back to back. Personally, I really liked the standard M suspension so that's what I got. Absolutely no regrets. What bother's you about the standard M suspension?

I don't know if you can get the ZCP suspension retrofit since you don't have EDC already. I'd consider options the other guys have mentioned or trade if you can't bond with your current M3. Good luck!

I shared some of your sentiments until I started to track my car. Man, what a humbling experience! I found that my non ZCP EDC suspension was more than sufficient for my skills levels. I did upgrade to some eibach springs after a while and am very happy with them. I made the change because I wanted the car to have a subtle drop, which the eibachs have achieved. The handling has stayed pretty much the same.

If I had to do it all over, I would not have gotten EDC and would have upgraded to some nice coilovers once my track skills got a little better.

If you have never tracked your car, I highly recommend that you attend a high performance driving event through the BMW CCA. I think you will come away with a new found respect for your car's suspension and may not worry about the ZCP so much.

Good luck!

If your car doesn't have EDC then just get some springs or coilovers and the ZCP wheels. That will be way less than trading the whole car.
