I thought it was a joke when somebody voted for Algore.

I voted Teddy Roosevelt. He is cool that he looks like Daniel Boone or Davy Crockett in that last picture.

Dick Cheney is a pretty good VP.
  • George Bush didn't pick him simply to gather in the votes Cheney had gained during the primaries since Cheney never ran for president.
  • Cheney is a good confidant of the president as he does not aspire to the office himself.
  • He is loyal to the president as he was not defeated by him in primaries.
  • It was not a "marriage" of convenience but of choice.
If I could, I might have changed my vote to Cheney. That would make Richard Cheney leading with 5 votes to Teddy Roosevelt's 4 votes.

Does anybody have insight, wit, or humor they can share about their choice for vice president? That is much more interesting than attacks on the people you do not like. It's always easy to make verbal attacks that have nothing to offer.

Let's hear your support for your guy.

Perhaps the purpose of this thread is to get ideas for how to recognize a good VP choice in the next election.

To expand on that last thought.

Anybody can tear down and destroy, but how many can build up and create? Take a hammer and other tools and start thrashing on your house to tear it down. You can get the job done not knowing anything about houses. Use those same tools and start building. Then we will recognize who knows something about houses.

The same goes for politics.

I voted for Dick Cheney because I believe he is exactly what a VP should be. He was selected for the position because of his experience rather than geographic political consideration. (Was Wyoming in play??) He has acted as a trusted adviser to the President and he brings complimentary knowledge and insight to the administration by having experience that the President lacks. Most importantly he does not have a personal political agenda so he is trusted by the President and the WH staff.

He complements to the President???
My dog would be successful in that role, too.
W is lacking everything excelt the goofiness, therefore, Chaney has an easy job "complementing" him.
On the other side...talking about the personal agenda -- one word for you -- Halliburton -- everything comes from there...
He's a crook and others should not be spending time in jail for him!
He (accidentally) shot the guy, and was patted on his back -- wonder what would have happened to me if I did that???

Between Bush and...Castro, Castro gets my vote.
Anyone gets my vote against bush...
Unfortunately Kerry was not all that. Gore beat Bush (counting the votes), unfortunately we're using a 300-year old system still that was established for completely different reasons...
And again, an unfortunate thing is that the next Rep Candidate (and may be really good) has slim chances after an 8-year-fuck-up we just went through...

Oops. This thread is about vice presidents.

Comments about presidents are more appropriate here: In a hypothetical presidential election, for whom would you vote?

Perhaps I misjudged you. Did you vote for Theodore Roosevelt? Richard Nixon? George H.W. Bush? Richard Cheney? From your prior posts, I wouldn't think so. That leaves Algore who is the only other one who has received votes in this poll thus far. That was why I figured you voted Algore (the inventor of the internet).

Or perhaps you didn't vote yet?

Anyway, why did you vote for the one you did (not against whom you voted against)?

I agree -- wrong column...
I did not vote off the list above...yet
However, my experience with the US presidents starts with the Clinton/Gore Era, so...
