Anyone have a take on using the clear 3M bra to cover the front, and the hood?
Haas anyone had this clear stuff fade or discolor?

Just had clear bra installed on my 2011 e90 by a very reputable dealer.he told me in front of the 3m representative that the bra has a 4 year warranty so I should come back in 3 and a half years with some complaint and he will redo the entire bra for free.

I wonder if they will really do it for free 3 years later? It is the labor that you are paying for. The materials don't cost that much compared to the price tag people are paying. Sad thing is a lot of companies (not all) who say lifetime warranty, 5 year warranty, etc will most likely not be around anymore when that date comes.

Avery Dennison Nano Fusion is the way to go! This stuff is new and was the highlight of Sema 2 years ago. From my understanding, it hasn't been available in large sheets until recently. I had my ENTIRE hood done in this stuff and you cannot tell there is anything there. It is also super glossy! I have people come up and ask me all the time "when am I going to clear bra my car?" I just reply, "it already is".

This product specifically warranties for life against yellowing!

Check it out...

I have a combination of 3M and Ventureshield on my car and although it's still new, it looks great so far. The ventureshield is a bit glossier than 3M, but you would be hard pressed to tell the difference once on the car.

I had my new 2011 E90 Space Gray M3 protected with a complete VentureShield application to the entire front-end. The hood was done in one piece as was each front fender. I also did the rocker panels on both sides and small areas behind each rear wheel. It looks great and no one who has seen the M3 evens knows it has been done unless I tell them. It really looks that fantastic!

I can tell you from experience that the appearance quality of a VentureShield (or any other type product) application is directly related to the cleaning and preparation of the surfaces BEFORE application followed by a quality install by an experienced installer.

I had mine done when the M3 was new and I did NOT have the dealer prep/clean the M3 for delivery to me. I took the M3 as delivered to them directly to my detailer (Unique Car Care; http://www.facebook.com/pages/Unique...7135170?ref=ts) who thoroughly cleaned and prepped the car and then his installer did the job there.

I have the 3M product - Hood, Bumper, Rocker Panels, RView Mirrors, quarter panel, etc. They have been on for about a year and still look good however I have a dark car.

I don't know if this has changed but when I got got it installed the 3M Hood only came in two sections instead of one complete sheet as I believe Ventureshield does. I opted for just the front half the hood because I didn't want a seam. If I were to do it again, I would probably consider the Venturshield just because of the one piece Hood.

My 2008 M3 I didn't ClearBra and it was a mistake!

I don't think you need to worry much about 3M tanking anytime soon.

I've got 3M bra on my 2009 e90 and it looks great... I have a blue car though.

^ True 3M is not going anywhere but what happens if the company who installed it does? 3M or any other authorized dealer is not going to replace for free labor, materials maybe. I could be wrong but I would not replace something for free that another authorized dealer installed unless 3M covers labor too.
