e9X M3 Spiritual Successor to M5 e28?

With the 1-Series M coupe now claiming the "official spiritual successor of the original M3" spot, that leaves the e9X with no M spiritual successor. Maybe it's the e28 M5 - consider the pic comparo.

In my mind, there's no spiritual successor for the E9x M3. M3's have always been trailblazing cars, and each one has set benchmarks with respect to performance and style.

That's my answer, and i'm sticking with it!

I drove an E28 M5; though it is no spiritual successor to the M3, the car had its own personality.

I don't know about the exterior comparison but the interiors look like they are from the same family for sure.

It's not really an E39M5 evolution... driving them back-to-back, they're very different cars despite the obvious comparisons in weight, size, power, and drivetrain...even for the E90.

The engine sounds like a V8, more than the S62, but it drives like a bigger S54 :-)
