Stupid maintenance program question

Hey gang, wanted to run this by you for opinions:

As some of you might know, I'm doing my own maintenance out of pocket. I'm almost due for another annual oil change, and my oil-change service light warning just started popping up 2 years (and 7K miles) after the 1,200-mile service. And no, I didn't reset it with the last annual oil change. That means I could get it done for free, but don't want to unless I could get the oil change kit from them for a DIY job.

And that's my question: Has anybody done that ? I'm almost positive the answer is NO, but doesn't hurt to ask . I've heard people getting wiper blades and such, but not oil. Thanks gang.

True story - they wouldn't even let me install my oil cap. They had to drive the car to a stall, get a tech assigned, and write the whole thing up. I believe BMW is fairly strict on the paperwork piece.

Unless your dealer is really terrible, I wouldn't hesitate to have them do an oil change. BMW techs are extremely well trained compared to your average manuf tech. Remember, people only come on here to complain when their service gets screwed up, no one ever posts when their oil change goes without issue.

But then, just to be sure, after winding it up once or twice stop near the dealer, pop the hood and check the seal on the oil cap and filter isn't whonked up like some have been before you spray down your whole engine on the ride home as some here have experienced!

i doubt they would just give u the oil. If they did, u could always turn around and sell it for profit.
