Too good to be true? (yet again)
I just found a listing for a e92 Alpine white M3 with 11k miles for only 33k, i emailed the seller and this was the response i got: Hello there, Thank you for your interest in my 2009 BMW M3. The car is in excellent running condition (no damages, accidents or scratches of course) and comes with a clear title, has only 11,010 miles. There is no lien on the car, there will be no monthly payments, no take over payments, just final price ($33,500). There is a reason for selling it for such a low price. I am passing through a divorce with my husband and I need to get rid of it fast. I am located in Utah and I have the vehicle with me. I will ship it from here on my expense through DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers). Giving the nature of this transaction we can escrow the payment with Google Checkout, and this way you're not buying something sight unseen. If you are not aware of this program you should know that it will allow you to test drive and inspect the vehicle before paying me. You will have a 15-days inspection period to decide whether you want to keep the vehicle or not before they release the funds to me. If you are still interested just let me know and I'll get back to you with further details about the transaction. You can see more photos of the car here: Looking forward to hearing from you, A*** M**** Thoughts?

Note the focus of the email is not so much about the car but more about how to channel the payment to him to make it harder for you to get it or any portion of it back. Most legitimate sellers will not give you this kind of BS story. The moment you say you'll have someone there to inspect the car or you'll fly down to so see it in person, his story will change again. Guaranteed. These scams always have two components: a ridiculously low price to lure your attention and a non-traditional method to buy the alleged car while focusing on the "deposit" using a payment method that will not get you a refund. RUN AWAY!

This is a scam! It happens all of the time with very similar divorce stories and wanting to ship. If you go to see the car you will be wasting your airfare and time because it doesn't exist.

If you have to ask the question, the answer is always yes.
If you are actually this desperate to sell your car, walk into a dealer (BMW, Nissan, Vespa, whatever...) and they will have no problem cutting you a check for a car priced at $20-30k below book value.

I've said it a million times before: Just ask for a phone number to discuss car deal over the phone. Scammers will never provide it, for obvious reasons. And even if they did, no deposits, and copy of title and driver's license before any trip arangement is made.

I had a similar incident with an M3 last year. It was an '09 coupe for $39k. Guy selling it was Johan. The only numbers he has listed were fax numbers and he wanted the money through google. He even had the correct VIN numbers too. And his story was of divorce too, said he'd personally drive it to my home too. Haha.
