while I agree most is overpriced, most brands do make quality products

dont buy a BMW for the ability to flaunt it to your friends if you cant afford to mod it tastefully

price comes for the ability for you to say you drive a BMW, and you havent even got to the maintenance issues

I expected these kind of responses and I am ok with them. The car only has 43k on the clock and My buddy back home, who's a BMW guru has taken care of the usual maintenance issues, ie: cooling system. And no I haven't come form GM Ford or Honda, I've been around VW's all my life most of them modded. I didn't buy my Z too look good in front of my friends, I could honestly care less. To me, it is an amazing looking car, I am a fan of convertibles and have owned 3 of them. I'm sorry if i come form a different back round then most on here but still, to me, IMO $1000 for exhaust seems a bit much.

And yes, I am cheap, I enjoy saving money and yes I do my own work on my own car.

You really didn't know about the BMW tax on everything before you bought your car?

Maybe so, but I paid $35 for some touchup paint the other day. It was in a bottle about the size of a small fingernail polish bottle.

Yes, the BMW engineering that went into developing that thing is worth every penny.

You got hosed. Paid $20 for OEM touch up paint at my dealership...the dealer pays cost and sells it at their own price. And when all else fails, getbmwparts.com

Yesterday I used an empty Nabob can to make a new muffler. It's so awesome and exactly the same as those $1000 exhausts. Only problem is I only had 1 can so only the left side of my car sounds good. We can be great friends OP.

You got a deal by paying $20 for this little thing of paint? Anything over $10 is a ripoff to me for this, which is kinda the point of this thread.

lol... these prices are NOTHING... Look into the Porsche world for aftermarket parts and the prices are insane!! $5,000 gets you a stainless steel exhaust for a 997 turbo, an OEM 997.1 GT3 RS rear wing is $11,000. If you go farther up to Ferrari territory, a simple carbon fiber diffuser for the rear is $3-5k where as for our cars they are $500-1000.

OP you are really cheap. Go sell your car and get a '98 civic.

LOL at all the defenders in here. I don't give a shit if it is a BMW or not, the company practice of charging $$$$$ for their products because of an OEM sticker is offensive.

Haha. Isn't the new M3's performance exhaust running at around $5000 MSRP?
