Greetings from the Great North...West

My name is Jarryd...I've lurked these boards for way too many years without introducing myself or my car, so I figured it was aboooot time. This car is my daily driver / weekend warrior track car. Throughout my 8 years of ownership, I have reinvented its style many times; however I'll start with posting up a few pictures of its most recent setup.

EXTERIOR
Mode Carbon CF GT4 Front Lip
APR 250-GT - 61"
AutoTecknic CF Mirrors
IND Tow Strap
Windshield Banner = +50hp

INTERIOR
Hamann Aluminum Pedals

Carbon Fiber E-brake

WHEELS/TIRES/BRAKES

Rear: Volk Racing TE37SL 18x10.5 ET20 / Hankook RS3 285/35/18

Here she is at a recent trackday I attended, held at the Ridge Motorsport Park in Shelton, Washington.

Great looking car but I have to ask, and I'm not trying to be a dick, but what is with the ginormous wings I've seen on these cars? It's always the tracked cars that have them. do they really make a difference or is it for the "look at me and my tracked BMW" aspect of it? I really want to know.. not even being sarcastic. I went through the "bleacher seat" phase 13 years ago in my fast and the furious ricer days and I grew to hate it and realize why I got made fun of. why is it okay on the M3?

It takes confidence to rock that wing because it's huge..and therefore a bold statement. I'm just not sure I could do it. seems like it screams "I'm trying too hard" unless there really is a huge performance benefit of it?

Downforce. At the track you'll get way more grip than without especially at high speeds where these cars produce a little lift.

It's literally pressing your tires into the ground.
