The standard battery is 1400mah I think. The extended battery is 2750mah or 2700mah. So it's a pretty big difference. It comes with a new backing plate obviously b/c it sticks out more but from some of the reviews I read people liked it and said they could grip the phone better. We shall see.

The only kind of battery that lasts all day on a Thunderbolt based on my recent experience. Finding a cover case for the phone may be a problem though ...

Thunderbolt here. 6h50m since unplugged. 80% battery remaining. Stock 1400mah battery. You're all doing it wrong.

You must be leaving it at your desk w/out using it at all then. The automatic toggle between 3G and 4G uses up juice as well from what I heard

Nope, moderate (browsing, email, facebook. a couple short calls) use since unplugged. 4g on all day.

^ Not that I don't believe you, but can you take a screenshot of your battery use?

Go under settings, about phone, battery use.

I'm curious why it isn't eating up more. I have a bigger battery and use it very moderately and it still chews up way more battery life than that. :-/

Don't have screenshot app. 8h52m since unplugged, 56%. Also wifi was on 90% of the time according to *#*#4636#*#*. I left it on by accident. Had it been off my stats would be better. I've been browsing more the past two hours.

I am rooted, changed the kernel twice. Once to Overclock to 1400ghz, then back down to stock. Noticed a quite a bit more battery usage without much noticeable speed. Might have to look into lowering it... :-/

Seem like Thunderbolt is the way to go if I fine with carrying an extra battery around

my brother and dad have the thunderbolt. they love the speed of the 4g but on average you lose 1% a minute with constant use having 4g on(verizon represtatives words). My dad found that to be true with his phone but my brothers phone lasted a little bit longer and was able to make it throughout the whole day. I had the iphone 3gs and switched to verizon for the iphone 4 and couldnt love it any more than i already do. I did have a droid 2 global for a couple weeks and i absolutely hated it. IMO IOS is far superior to android in almost every way possible. Its much easier to use, the quality of the apps are so much better(compared ESPN scorecenter app with my brothers thunderbolt) and the battery life is SO much better. I have to force kill my battery towards the end of the night because i want to be able to charge it at night.

If you want a smartphone that can do it all a droid/iphone are perfect phones. However the iphone has always seemed to be much easier to use and is much more simpler to do tasks. At the end of the day all i need is a phone that can browse the internet, check emails, txt a lot, and use some apps without having my battery always really low. If you really need the customization and jailbreaking, etc then go with the incredible...if 4g is your selling point then get the thunderbolt. Im not taking anything away from it except the battery life is sub par and i believe IOS is more intuitive.

hope my essay helps out

I have the Thunderbolt, there is no other phone to choose

2.3 comes out in a couple weeks for us, and it is already rooted and able to do anything you ask of it. LTE is sickeningly fast, and all my friends with iPhones envy the Thunderbolt, go get it~!

So basically it's nothing too complicated.

- screen set to 20% brightness at all times
- all radios except for 4g/3g/1x off except when using
- background data on
- autosync off
- no screen animations
- clear all widgets off of desktop
- update blockbuster app and disable catalog updates
- screen timeout set to 30 seconds

I am not using a battery manager (e.g. JuiceDefender, Green Power) at present. I generally turn things on when I need them and leave them off when I don't.

I'd watch for the GS3 coming out this fall. It's going to be a REAL iPhone killer but you didn't hear anything from me.

I have used the hotspot on my Thunderbolt. My laptop gets faster downloades using the hotspot of the 4G phone than it does over my comcast high speed internet.

brb not fine-tuning my phone for battery life...

I had a Driod X and that battery life was a fucking joke - I'm over Droids until they can take advantage of the new technology and have the battery last an acceptable amount of time.

My Galaxy S II can last 2 days with moderate use from the reviews I have read. I'l post pics when she comes in of it's usage.
