The same reason the US taxpayers are fronting the bill on even more expensive stupid bullshit that nobody agrees with. At least this gives back to the community in some weird fashion (think sports). That's just a silly question to ask. We're not any better, in fact we're even worse.

Disclaimer: I have absolutely no idea who's getting married, and frankly am very happy staying that way.

I'm talking about our banks here. Most of them a partly state-owned because of the bank bailouts. We put millions of taxpayers money into a recovery plan. These bastards should not get ANY bonus. Instead, if they have money to spend on bonuses it should be used to repay the UK taxpayers' money.

I think they are though. This wedding is costing me and other taxpayers £50 million. Why should that be allowed? They are only their because of their ancestry because noone actually voted them in. Spoke with someone on the issue over breakfast and brought up an interesting point...all the attention, as "sad" as it is that people follow and care so closely, probably helps the UK tourism-wise a substantial amount.

Only real issue I see is that the majority (as I understand it) of UK taxpayers who are funding this are pissed, and have every right to be, but as long as TG still comes out of the BBC, I couldn't care less
