The gains are equal to any slip-on section. There's almost no power available there

Got a new M coming for lease in a couple weeks and found out there's a good deal on this when installed at the port on leased vehicles.

From a man who's had every conceivable exhaust, I need to hear your review of this thing.

Most importantly, what are your impressions regarding the exhaust note? Is it what you expected or have you heard any better systems?

Looks good. Did you have the whole thing powder coated? Tips and all?

It's not the best photo from an iPhone. But I just painted the cans.

Does that mean below 4k it sounds stock or is it louder. I don't want to have to floor it to hear it a little like I must do with stock.

Hmm, probably wouldn't make much of a difference, but I wouldn't mind installing those on a non-convertible.

It sounds different all e time. Just not as load as others. It's a lot deeper sounding.

Wait till you get a few (several hundred at least) on it.

What I like about it (this is my daily driver) at low throttle openings or steady state on roads or freeway it's almost as quiet as stock, just a touch louder. The stock exhaust has just the slightest drone but this exhaust has none (with stock x-pipe). Above 3,500 to 4,000 rpm is where it's most noticeable, louder, deeper and has a nice note (this is really just personal preference and no recording captures what it sounds like in real life). At WOT and high rpm it's substantially louder than stock. The characteristics of the sound are hard to describe but most people like it. My non-BMW friends just say it sounds mean.

+1 - It howls on the track at full throttle coming through 5000 RPMs.
