Squeaking Noise from Steering Column

So most times when I engage full lock on my steering wheel to the left, I get a squeaking noise from the steering column somewhere. Don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but anyone have any thoughts? It never makes a noise during regular or hard driving, but only during slow speeds and when the wheel is turned fully or almost to the full lock.

I've also noticed that sometimes when the car is still warming up, the brakes make a similar noise but that once the car has been running for awhile, hard braking/soft braking, etc. is fine and the noise is gone. Any ideas?

How sure are you that it is the steering column? I usually hear the car start working a little harder when you fully lock the steering wheel in either direction but no squealing like brakes

Same with the brakes.... to get out of my parking garage I have to drive to a gate on a down slope... every morning it squeaks as I stop, but then never for the rest of the day. Just warming up...

As for the steering column, don't have that. Is it just the steering wheel rubbing against the steering column? This is what happens in my range rover and has a minor little squeaking noise.

Quite possible its the clock spring within the steering wheel. Make a video of it and put it up on youtube. Let us hear this squeaking noise you are talking about.

You're not holding the steering wheel against the lock, putting a lot of stress on the pump, are you? And are you hearing the noise while turning the steering wheel, or once there?

This started happening to my car this week. At first I thought it was the wheel rubbing but it's only inside the cabin and only happens when it's cold and the first few minutes of driving. I only hear the noise when turning left (doesn't have to be full lock). It's a very faint noise but I'm sensitive to noise so it bothers me.

I hear the noise when turning left and right now. It's a slight whistling sound. Very faint. Something must be rubbing inside the steering column. Any ideas?

Re-adjusted the steering position this weekend and the noise went away. I hope it stays away!
