Alignment & Wheel Balancing..

Hey guys,

I was running ps2's and my alignment was on the dot. Now that i changed to Ad08's all around at higher speeds it seems like my alignment is off. Is this normal? Since these two tires have very different tread designs?

I got my car balanced using a hunter road force machine at a BMW dealer, and the car vibrated badly at 80+mph. I took it back in and they redid it, and now theres minor vibration at 80+. Is it hard balancing with this machine? Ive heard its VERY difficult to balance lite wheels, is this true? Should i take it back in and have them fix it AGAIN? -______-. For sure I have no bends.

Well, the new Hunter machines are nearly idiot-proof, but not totally, so the operator still counts. If vibration is the problem, then it’s a wheel or tire issue, not alignment. Although, the ADO8 is a great tire, Yoko tires are not known for perfection, and you might have an out-of-round tire that cannot be balanced to your satisfaction. But, that should have been discovered in the road force part of the balancing. The shop should definitely be able to diagnose the problem, so I would take it back. And no, light wheels are not a problem to balance.

+1

Either the tire shop should be able to prove conclusively that something is wrong with either the wheel or the tire, or they should be able to rebalance the tire.

From my experience, it's quite rare to have a defective or out of round set of tires that is so off that they can't be balanced to satisfaction. Most of the time the problem is a result of operator error. I'd suggest having your tech try again, or trying a different shop to balance the wheels and tires.

What sizes did you choose for the AD08's?
