first coat

Mine is also on Taiko and I have been planning my first week after taking delivery.

I have seen a lot of fellow members apply a bunch of fancy waxes / polishes / clay bar etc with in the first week after delivery to protect their paints and get what ever micro junk gets on it on the boat off. Have you guys planned on any of these things. I dont even know the names of these fancy detailing products..... any insight into this would be appreciated??

Spend some time in the detailing section of this forum, but here are a few tips once you get the car home. Two of the most basic things pros do that just about anyone can do without screwing up the paint is to use a clay bar to remove contaminents and polish/wax using a random orbital polishing machine.

I like Adams Polishes and Griots Garage stuff because they have organized websites with tons of instruction. Over time you can start figuring out who make the best stuff for different applications. I started with Griot and have grown over the years. It will become obvious to you over time that one company doesn't make the best product for every application.

I would start with one of these kits that come with an instructional video:

http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...%26+wax+kit.do

Or

http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-338-a...isher-kit.aspx

Adam's has a very good, free video series on you-tube taking you step-by-step from wash to wax. Search Adam's Polishes on you-tube.

I hope this helps.

I sold my 330 over the weekend as well. Did you trade yours in or sell it to a private party.

Question Guys???? My Car finished production back on March 24th! IT sat at the port of exit for about 8 days and know is en route. The thing is that i cant find it!!!!!! Im doing PCD on May 12th and this car should be on one of these damn ships.

I followed all the instructions on the Sticky but the ship keeps saying no record. My CA has yet to responde to my email asking what ship is the car on?

any advice for tracking the car short of going to my CA house and knocking on his door! LOL! The status still reads "En Route" and its been a long time

Stocked up detailing gear this past week. I'm alpine white, so after reading over all the detailing threads, I decided to go with Vertua Bond 408 and Jetseal 109. Maybe I'll hop on the clay train later, but I'm just sticking with light waxes and seals for now. After my 1200 break-in, I'm going with KW V3s

If you have any idea of the DATE it left port, that would be of help. The 800 number is usually up to date on that within a day, and you can pretty much assume about 13-16 days until port. It's possible it's not on a WW ship, but at this point, I would just give up looking and stick with the 800 number. You'll be at port in a few days

I am IB and still trying to configure which route to go, any pointers??? I looked around in the detailing areas and man its a little over whelming, there is so much out there, any particular threads that you liked with the most usefull info regarding the "virgin wash".

Here's the thread I referenced most --> http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148597

I know it says for Alpine White, but there is a lot of good info on all kinds of waxes in there. The main reason I went the route I did was because our cars are new, they don't need waxes with fillers, as they are.. indeed, virgin Vertua Bond is a "pre-wax" but it serves practically the same purpose as a wax, minus the fillers.

If I were you I would read over that to find a good wax. It isn't a really long thread so you might come up empty, but there is some really good info on how to detail for those who aren't looking to be too abrasive (post #10). In my mind, this is for us, again considering our cars are brand new.

A couple other things I got:
- Chemical Guys Metal Cleaner (for exhaust)
- Chemical Guys Black Forever Gel (tires)
- Sonax Wheel Cleaner (this stuff is money)

Only a matter of days now boys
