2012 Boss 302 Mustang 0-60 4.0 secs! 42k window sticker!

So I know this is going against everything I've ever felt about Fords and Mustangs but is anyone else really feeling this new BOSS 302. They have it at 4 secs 0-60 and .98g on the skidpad, not to mention it beats the M3 and Audi R8 around a track. Here's the link...

To sum up the last thread we had on the Boss, most of the members love it minus the badge whore Ford haters.

If I was shopping for a coupe within the 45k range I'd probably wind up with one myself.

I almost bought a 2011 Mustang GT instead of the 135i. I just couldn't deal with the looks and overall size of the car. It' soft as hell suspension wise and just too big. Awesome engine though.

Crikey. That is nice for $43K. I wonder how many they will make. That may affect the pricing at the dealer.

Any car with a tuned suspensions just isn't very friendly on normal streets.

I am jumpy about seeing potholes, steep driveways, and road pebbles bigger than a babies fist.

It's relatively easy to make a car very quick on a track but to make it very quick on the track and hugely impressive on road takes real engineering skill which is why both the R8 and M3 are regarded so highly.

Not knock Ford here, only thing need to be kept in perspective when sing the Boss's praises.

I don't think its the Ford badge, its the other badge on the car. To some it carries a "redneck" stigma. I am willing to bet 99% of these so-called badge whore Ford haters would drive a Ford GT all day long.

Ford is producing some really good products as of late.

^ The above post pretty much sums up almost all Mustang threads.

It's a good car, I'd love to try it out on a track.

My point was it takes more refinement to make a car handle well at the track and have decent street comfort - such as the M3. For those who want primarily a track car the Boss 302 may fill their needs if they don't use it a lot for street duty or if they live where the roads are glass smooth. Otherwise the GT is a better choice.
+1. The Mustang is scary on everyday streets if you run it hard. The live axle setup is hard to totally overcome for all surfaces.

My sentiments exactly. It's definitely a fast car, there is no doubt about it. I just felt like I was driving a massive car when I was in the GT. Its weird because the M3 weighs about the same but when I drive the M3 it doesn't feel like a big car, whereas the Mustang feels massive.

Also, flat out speed isn't the only factor of a fun car. I'd rather dole out the extra cash for the M3 any day because when I drove the M3 I just had a big smile on my face the whole time. When I drove the mustang I maybe smirked a bit when I gave the rear wheels a little workout in 1st gear but was just annoyed the whole time that I felt like I had 10ft of hood infront of me.

Also, I could give a crap about track times. I go to the track 1-2 times a year. Plus, I'd rather have fun on the track rather than just go fast if that makes sense. And I'd have much more fun in the M3.

That's why I traded my 370 for my 135...bonus is it's more fun and I'm pretty sure it will be faster too

if there was ever a time to buy american muscle, it would be now.
the '69 boss is worth north of $120K in concourse condition, not bad for a $4K initial investment.
