Thank you! Yeah I'm happy I bought it, really looking forward to taking it to the range, this is my first AR-15. So far I ordered a magpul fore grip, and a GLX green laser sight, and a generic 200 lumin tactical light for it, as well as a 1720 pelican case. I'm pretty sure that I will order an eotech sight next... |

I do like Gemtech (know many people that work there personally...), and the Mk9k is considered a great SMG can. But three drawbacks I see vs. the YHM:
1.) Cost 2.) Diameter. 3.) Weight. The Mk9k is listed at 20 oz (1 lb 4oz) to the YHM's 11 ozs. The YHM is less than 1lb and 50% lighter than the Mk9k... The 2" diameter of the Mk9k helps is suppress very well, but it will not fit under any handguard systems out there. The YHM at 1.62" will. This only becomes a factor if I want to create an "SD" type setup (long handguard, shorter barrel with suppressor.) In the meantime, I'll get a thread adapter and run my old SOS-40 on it until I decide which one to get.....

Ordered one in for a customer. The general consensus is they are the most reliable AR15 22's, and the mags are very easy to load and cheap. I'd choose it over the others, and certainly before a "conversion", which all seem to have some issues.

Went to the gun show today. Since I'm building a new AR, I was shopping for parts. Ran across a Sun Devil billet upper and lower receiver combo. Upper did not have forward assist and the set was priced at $380. I'm glad I didn't buy it because I found that combo cheaper directly from the factory. Plus, I'm looking to buy an upper and lower receiver from a specific company.

this may be the wrong thread for me to post this in, but anyone got an AK variant they'd be willing to part with? I'm afraid with what's been happening these last few weeks, O-man is gonna drop the ban hammer.

I have one. Great little rifle. I got the FDE MOE version. Worth the extra $$. The flip up sights alone make up the difference. I bought a bunch of mags so I don't have to reload as much. Makes it more enjoyable. Got em on sale for like $15 each. It is super fun to shoot and ammo is dirt cheap. Surprisingly it is a nail driver depending on ammo. It is the only .22 that functions exactly like a real AR. It is also super easy to clean. Highly recommended!!
The only other option is to get a CMMG AR 22 kit. That is a great way to save money as well. The only thing though is the twist rate is different on a real 22 rifle. Plus I don't want to wear out my AR. I've had my M&P 15-22 for like 3 months and easily have over 2k rounds though it. Not one FTF or FTE. Rock solid. Did have a few that didn't fire, but that was the ammo. Another great thing is it will eat anything. |

I would be careful with parts that you buy at the gun show. I was at the local gun shop the other day and the dude came in with a blown up AR15 barrel that he purchased at the gun show. Almost took off his hand when it happened. Apparently the seller he bought it from is well known for selling the low quality and/or rejected parts that legit manufacturers refuse to put on their firearms and send them to get recycled

Ahh good call. I found a Vltor lower on gunbroker. He wants $350 for it. I think I'm gonna wait and see if I can find something else.

I also picked up an Arsenal SGL21-61 AK-47. The recent tragedy, coupled with the knee-jerk anti-gun reaction, has kind of forced my hand.

I was going to wait longer but figured I should get one while I can. Any suggestions for a good first (and probably only) AR in .223/.556? I'm looking in the $1000 or less range. I've been seeing Colts, Daniel Defense, S&W, etc but every single online place is sold out now so I'm not sure where to pick one up.

Check your local gun store. That's your best bet of finding an AR in stock. I've been looking online for weeks. |
