Seat broken 3 months out of warranty

Hi guys,

just found the motor on the passenger seat in my car has stopped working on my 07 e92

(the seat moves along one rail but is stuck on the other)

local dealer initially quoted 1100 for repair, but after a bit of fight theyve decided to only charge labour of 500.

Is this good enough? anything i should say to get it lower?

things to note: car has full service history, 3 months out of warranty and is just being repaired to go back as i have just taken a contract for a MY11 e93 (from a dfferent dealer- better offer)

any thoughts?

You could call BMW directly as I know other manufacturers have a "Customer Commitment" team to help with issues like this. 1700 USD to fix a seat three months out of warranty!? I don't think so. It also will help that you are loyal to BMW and have a new car on order, manufacturers love that stuff. Be sure to mention it when you call. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

My door closed sensor (required to get tranny in gear) quit at 52k miles. BMW dealer said no, BMWNA said yes because I had owned 4 M3s...

First make sure nothing is blocking the other rail. A coin or whatever could get wedged just right to prevent movement on one side.

Helps if you own more than one BMW, ask for goodwill assistance from BMW but dealer needs to go to bat for you.
