monsta- thanks for the welcome on the other post. I grew up in Upper Saddle River and as you can see, haven't fallen too far from the apple tree. If you recall a Corvette parts shop on 17 North in USR, that was my dad's business. He questions my judgement in going after the M3.

Burlington county future owner here too...
Skierman, did you try to get a deposit to DeSimone? My sales guy keeps telling me they wont take a deposit until the car is in production. He's assuring me a place on their first allotment. I know that when the m5's got released it was the same way with them, he called me one day out of the blue and said that a $1,000 deposit gets me in their first allotment. Basically it seemed like a free for all, the salesman all call their clients and the first deposits win... |

JerseyBeemer, no my deposit is at a dealer in PA where my dad works part time. My situation is somewhat unique. Since I am in the military I have always kept my state of residence (not necessarily the state I live in) as South Dakota for tax reasons. However New Jersey has an illegal law that says military members must pay NJ sales tax even if they register their car in their state of residence if they live in NJ (this law is in direct conflict with Federal Statues). Bottom line is, if I buy my M3 in PA I will pay 3% sales tax to SD instead of 7% to NJ. 4%x 60K is $2,400. Well worth the 2 hour drive. Oh, the dealer in PA has a $500 deposit of mine, I'm #4 on the list and they guarantee no more than MSRP.
Sorry for the long explaination. I do like DeSimone, I was there last week for a BMWCCA meeting and the folks were nice and so is the new building. But I doubt they'll throw $2,400 buck at me to buy my M3 there.

I live in Monmouth County near the shore. Have the number 1 and 2 slot at a central NJ dealer.

JerseyBeemer: Yes, I'm on the wait list at DeSimone. I just sold my e46 M3 a few weeks ago since I didn't drive it much in the winters. I'm hoping DeSimone gets the pricing info for the new M3 quickly so I can place my order. Have you placed your order yet?

I live in Queens which isn't too far from Jersey. I am number 1 on the list at Manhattan BMW so I should be getting mine right away. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up or discuss anything.
