Everybody who's getting these do us all a favor and measure the tread depth and post it along with the size. I suspect that's where 90% of the claimed "increased life" is coming from. Michelin's website says they're molded at 10/32" throughout the lineup instead of 8/32" and 9/32" for the PS2 rears and fronts respectively, except for the OEM super sport 599 GTO sizes molded at 7/32.

So, if they're molded at 2/32" deeper than the PS2 for the OE rears, they're gonna last 25% longer even if the rubber comes off at the same rate, which I suspect it doesn't since they're supposed to be better in the rain and dry which says softer compound to me

So, lasts 15-20% longer than PS2 because you get 25% more rubber, and 5-10% better performance from a more wearable compound. Would love to see coast-down figures but either way it sounds good to me for 20% less moolah...

Tread depth is listed @ 10/32 for both the 255/35/19 and 275/35/19.

Width is listed @ 10.24" on 9" width rim for the 255 and 10.94" on a 9.5" rim for the 275.

Yeah I'm just curious what they actually measure out to. My PS2's measured out to what they say they should but there's no substitute for real tires in people's hands. I've still got 2.5 sets of PS2's to burn through so I don't know why I'm so curious, just a tire nerd I guess...

Michelin's policy is pretty clear if your read the footnotes on the chart: http://www.michelinman.com/media/en-...warranties.pdf. A 30k warranty on an M3 would be too good to be true, especially for the rears.

"Excludes DOT-approved competition tires (e.g., Michelin ® Pilot® Sport Cup tires). Mileage warranties apply to tires that come as original equipment on model year 2011 and later vehicles. Some vehicles come from the vehicle manufacturer with “split fitments”—meaning different size tires on the front and rear axles. Because these tires cannot be rotated as recommended by Michelin, the mileage warranty on each rear tire will cover half the number of miles as the standard mileage warranty for that particular tire design.

ZP (Zero Pressure) tires have the same mileage warranty as the standard tire line they are part of, but not to exceed 30,000-miles. PAX® System tires are covered by a 36,000-mile warranty.

MICHELIN® Winter tires require documentation of the timing of the installation and removal of the tires each winter to maintain coverage under the limited warranty for tread wear. Winter months is defined as the period beginning on or after September 1 of a given year, and ending no later than April 30 of the following year."

30,000 refers to front tires only on staggered setups... so 15k. which is decently reasonable on an m3.

You are correct, I overlooked that. I got ~15k on my rear PS2s, and 20k+ on the fronts, so if these last longer their warranty would not be in jeopoardy. And I'm sure it is prorated, so if you burn through the fronts in 25k you would be looking at a nominal credit. How they react to those who track their cars or drag race is an interesting question. Presumably you would have to carry a passenger, since this is a passenger car warranty!

Michelin's calculation that you can double your mileage by rotating seems pretty optimistic.

This is exactly right. M3's with staggered setups that buy Pilot Super Sports will have 30K mile warranty on the front, and 15K mile warranty for the rear. Reimbursement is prorated, so let's say you got 1/2 the stated mileage, you would receive a 50% credit through the warranty.

30K for the fronts seems a tad optimistic, but we'll have to see how it goes. As long as the fronts are lasting 25K or so, their liabilities under warranty would be fairly limited.

I assume down to the wear bars at 2/32" is considered full wear, or at 4/32" which is safer?

That's what I thought. I never take mine that low unless it is the middle of summer. Dangerous around here 1/2 of the year.
