Grinding nooise at low gears - normal?

I am looking at taking over an 08 M3 manual gearbox.
Test driving the car I noticed that while cruising in first and second gears without applying much throttle there is light grinding noise...
Not even sure whether it's coming from the gearbox or some-where else. It sort of comes and goes.

Any ideas?

Sounds like low speed gear chatter...can't say if its typical for the MT M3.

How do you cruise in 1st or 2nd gear

Some noise is normal in the lower gears at light load.

I meant driving at consistent speed with low throttle input

Grinding noise when you are off the clutch pedal and maintaining constant speed?

Also, does this happen in straight line or corners? Or both?

1. Yes - though only noticed in 1 and 2 gear

2. Straight line, don't believe it's related to suspension, though not 100% sure
