Much less bass at lower RPMs compared to the Eisenmann Sport. A little more bass at the same range as compared to stock.

Flavored tobacco, usually.

But this is California, where we smoke more than just our tires

Wow that sounds good. And thanks for the great commentary as well.

So who's going to post the first side by side M performance vs. Akra slip-on video? I think that's what we're ALL waiting for!

Based on the videos (which we all know are difficult to judge sound from), the Akra is deeper throughout the rev range and the M performance has a raspier sound. To me, based on the videos and my experience with my Akra, the Akra sounds like a big V8 and the M performance sounds like a higher pitched race car. They do appear to sound VERY different but both sound great to me. I wish the M performance tips were a tad larger. They look very nice but are a little tiny IMO.

Anthony has videos of the Eisenmann Sport on my car before we took it off. He should post those too.

If anyone in Southern California has an Akra Slip-on, I'd happily meet up to shoot a video comparo.

The M Performance exhaust sounds more agressive than the Akra in those videos. For me, I like the more subtle sound so I would go for the Akra but I can see how many would like the M Performance sound because its kind of the ultimate compromise. Aggressive sound with no drone and without being overly obnoxious.

It's not a good comparo. You're comparing two axle-backs with the full Akra Evo. EAS should have used a video of the Slip-on

Richpuer and I are working on shooting a comparo with my M Performance and his Akra Slip-On sometime this week. Stay tuned.

True, but if the M performance is already more aggressive than the full Akra, going to the slip-on Akra will only make the difference more dramatic.

It does in those videos, but it's definitely quieter in the cabin with the M Performance because of the lower bass.

Also, I didn't rev all the way to redline in the first half of the ES video (standing revs) because the car was still cold and was cutting off the gas, whereas you can hear the point in the M Performance video where the engine warmed up and let me redline it. Unfortunately, it's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison.

I find the bass in the Akra slip-on to be more than I (and family) want, so this has helped me to decide to buy the BMW Performance unit. I just added my name to the group buy list as the price (out the door) is the best I've come across so far.

So join the list so we can get a good price! (crosses fingers...)

I felt the same way when I first installed my Akra slip-on. What made me change my mind on selling it was actually hearing it outside of the car where I found it wasn't as loud as I had thought. Inside the cabin, the bass is still there but I actually find that I am really enjoying it more and more. Having said that, I do think the M Performance Exhaust is the best choice at the moment if someone doesn't like a deep exhaust. Gotta say, though, that something keeps pulling me back to the M Performance Exhaust!

True story from this afternoon... I picked up my 3 year old son in the M3 today as his Mom had an appointment. He had not been in the car since I installed the Akra. When I started the car up he let out a loud scream... at first I thought it scared him but then I realized he was just excited and he yelled "Daddy... your new car sounds like Lightning McQueen!!" Let's just say I revved it a lot on the way home with him cheering the whole way... I do love my boy.

Thanks, Mark. That means a lot coming from you, sir.

When the hell are you bringing your beast to Southern California?
