Software Update? 2010 E92

One of my friends that owns a 08 e92 told me that you can update the cars ecu software to the 13 e92 m3 which will add Hp, throttle response, torque and others. He said it was only $185. Seems too good to be true but anything like that exists or? Total noob here please be gentle.

Probably puts extra stress on your rod bearings, though...

You want the 240e update. I believe Alex@Alpine offers this service or a dealership can do it. Also, if you're planning on getting a tune like BPM, don't waste your money as the new tune will come with the updated 240e as part of the package.

Thanks for the laugher this morning! I needed it!

Most of this is a whole lot of bullchit...He's talking about 240e engine management software...it doesn't add any measurable HP, Torque, Dijon-Torque, penis enhancements, street cred, or anything...it just recalibrates minute throttle position sensitivities and associated ignition/timing...etc. It has been shown to be a good baseline to use for additional engine tuning, and if you dont' get a tune, you will only notice low speed, low rpm smoother throttle.

Do I recommend it? Yes. But I went from 80E to 240E, and only effect I noticed is smoother low speed throttle operations and a 2 mpg bump on highway MPGs...

Yes, BMW did release a lot of updates. If you search on here for "240E" you can read about the subjective changes.

Technically they're on 241E now but nothing substantial has changed since 240E.

A dealer can update it for about 1 hour of labor, which is typically $175 or less.

I beg to differ

I got mine updated from 80E to 240E at a reputable indy shop. Charged me $120'ish tax in. (Canadian dollars too , so thats automatically 20-25% cheaper than USD).

Noticably smoother, not much difference in butt dyno in terms of speed and power. MPG went up by around 2 mpg on city driving (i track on fuelly)

if you can get it updated for cheaper might be better, $185 sounds steep'ish for me lol
