O2 Sensor - code PO132 - which one?

Just picked up a lightly used 2008 E90 M3 and there is an error code for one of the O2 sensors: P0132 (and also P0132 P).

I looked it up and it appears to be "Bank 1, Sensor 1". My understanding is that this means I need to replace the pre-cat O2 sensor? Also, I've read that some people recommend replacing both sensors (I guess there are two pre-cat sensors for each cylinder)?

Looking at the ECS Tuning website, I'm not quite sure which O2 sensor this equates to as they are refer to them as "Front Position" and "Rear Position":

Can anyone confirm?

Hi MarkFT,

Bank 1 Sensor 1 would be "Front Position" - closest to the engine (before the cat). Sensor 2 would be "Rear Position" - furthest away (after cat).

Your car has two banks, 2 sensors each (4 sensors in total).

Great, thanks! Since I'm under there, I'm assuming it is a good idea to replace both the pre- and post-cat sensors in that pair?

I would replace both pre-cats. They are the ones that give the a/f ratio. No need for the post cats until they throw a code. The post cats usually go on when your cat goes bad...
