Tire Pressure Monitor Life-span Question

I have a set of TPMS off of a set of wheels that have been sitting in my garage for two years (only used on the car for 750 miles). I was thinking of pulling them off and using them on a new wheel set I'm putting together. Does anyone know how long TPMS are supposed to last? Is there a battery inside of them that should be replaced? Since they have been idle for so long will they have plenty of juice? I would hate to install them and have to deal with the hassle of them failing....

For what it's worth, Wikipedia says 7 to 10 years is typical.

Thank you. I just did a search and that is consistent with what I found out. Tire Rack says 5 years.

5 is low end of what's possible, 10 is at the high end. It will vary, because most of them go into a power saving mode when they are not moving. OEM sensors are not designed with battery access, so if they die you have to get new ones.

If they've been sitting they should be fine. Put them on, follow the owner's manual instructions for resetting the TPMS, and drive for 20 mins or so. They should sync up and work normally.
