Cayman Turbo TPC for Track Use?

Am I crazy? I'm thinking I could have much more fun on the track with one of these turbo kits for the Cayman S. Anyone have any experience with these?

It seems possible to pick up a used Cayman S, put $25k into mods and have pretty much the ultimate track car for under $60 grand. Not only would it kill M3s, it should also be able to anihilate GT3s and Z06 Corvettes with ease. Prolly stay with the low boost version at a measley 440 hp to keep the weight down and simplify things.

WOW - that is interesting. Still not a fan of the cayman, but it certainly would make a fun track toy. Especially with that power and price point.

$25k in mod probably isn't enough. Cayman is an excellent car, but when it comes to track, you need to do a lot of stuff to it to make it balance.
If you plan to track it hard, you must have at least VOS, TTP, TB or cooler for PS; then better to upgrade brakes, suspensions, tires, seats. There're more info on Planet-9.com

I tracked my Cayman S directly "out-of-the-box" without any mods - no issues.

Even with adding the turbo kit, I'm sure the stock brakes will do fine. Obviously you can make it always better, but the stock Cayman is tons of fun on the track.
Yes. Stock is fine, i had no problem whatsoever. The car started to have problem after I modded it and tracked it hard enough.

There are some oiling issues with Gen1 cars when tracked. Browse around Planet-9 if you haven't done so already.

No your not crazy. The turbo cayman looks like a beast. The intercooled kit is only 10k. I dont plan any major mods besides the kit and I think you'd have an awesome dd and mild track car.
