I think I read somewhere that after you have 5 posts there maybe a 24hr time delay as well, not 100% sure though.

+ 1

Original Owner with fully loaded '08 E93 vert as well just touched 30,000KM
And I have driven the car on lots of highways and city roads around the world, and it just seems to get better with age.
Only issues to report:

Slight leak on passenger's side window which was addressed in the first year

Slight whiny noise from the driver's side upon revving, turned out it was a faulty exhaust manifold pipe, as it wasn't secured properly from factory and they just replaced that and voila noise was gone!

Got updated differential oil with teflon, as it was a recall on some earlier '08 M3s

And I never drove it in snow, because I had access to other cars but many members do drive them with proper winter tires.

So as suggested go with a CPO and you cant go wrong, best car I have owned

'08 M3 6 spd here in Edmonton. Great car never any problems.

I winter drive with a set of winter tires no prob. Easy drive. Only issue is clearance if you get 20+ cm of snow overnight. Been one of those winters here.

6 spd is great, got a Rogue SSK and never looked back.

I am gonna prob run this car a long time. It is just fantastic and you'll be hard pressed to find ever a better car in your life.

I would ask the dealer to pack the trunk with 30 liters of engine oil upon delivery. I have had to top up my oil ever 2-3 months

Really?I might use 1/2 litre in 12000 kms even with all the track days that I do.You must have followed the recommended breakin procedures which will cause higher oil consumption for the life of the engine.

I guess so. I have had to top it up after every track day (1liter),, and I havent done that many. Even in winter times I have to top it up about a liter. Budds used to do it free for the first year but now I have to pay

Wow - you seem to be going through a lot of oil. My experience is more in line with Gearheads - less than a litre in 12000kms, which also includes more than 10 track days a year.

I have 53K and have topped up my oil 2X beyond regular maintenance...I think the car is pretty good on that side as I did the same top ups with my 335.

Still no update on my car today!

Yea I have heard similar things from other owners as well. I complained a few times to Budds but they say its normal with these cars. I only have about 9 months left on my lease so I am not overly worried.

I dont think its anything to worry about. My '06 330i went thru more oil that my M3 between changes. My '03 330i didnt go through any. As long as it runs good and you dont have any issues or leaks, adding some oil here and there is no biggie.

Both Gearhead999s and I have had great experiences with the Nitto NT05, I have track wheels and run a 275/285 setup, I think Gearhead runs 275 on all four corners. Its a great tire as you can drive to the track with it as it is street legal. Toyo RA1's are a nice track tire as well and seem to suit the M3 very well although you cant get them in Canada very easily at the moment.

I did about 8 or so days on the NT05's and could probably get another day out of them. PM me if you need a good tire guy in Mississauga thats where I got my NT05s.

Thanks for the info. Yea I was running the original ps2's on the track. They are not bad but wanted to up it a notch this summer .

Yea I would appreciate your tire contact as I am in Mississauga as well.

BTW will this setup fit the original oem wheels?

PS2s get greasy after a few hot laps as I'm sure you noticed.

What about this? A new base S4 instead of used loaded '08 M3? Would that make more sense?

He is not asking which was is better or even suggesting that they are an Apples to Apples comparison. He is simply asking which one makes the most sense. For some having a brand new car with full warranty coverage will trump having a more expensive car a couple years old for the same price. A car is only New once.
If he is looking for a great daily driver with plenty of power and a lot of fun to drive, then an New S4 may be the way to go. If he can get past that he will have limited warranty coverage (unless he finds a CPO), a car where someone else had broken it in and put some miles on the ODO, then the M3 might be the logical choice.
Unfortunately he can probably only answer this question for himself as he know how he will use the car (ie. weekend car, track, daily driver etc). A lot of people on this forum will just automatically say the M3 is the only choice which is wrong.
