Welcome to M3Post. What a bunch of wadded up panty scrunchers.

The only people I won't let drive the car (by themselves) are teenage boys for the obvious reasons. With me in the car, anyone. I'm teaching the 14 year old to drive in the M3 because it's the only manual in the household, and I'm going to teach her on manual before automatic.

My better half wrecks cars on a regular basis. No amount of training seems to be able to cure her of this. She drives my car all the time. The brakes and handling might help her avoid an accident in the future. Besides, it's a damn safe car if she does get in an accident.

Wow guys its a Car! I have let a few of my friends and Dad drive my car. Its insured.

I have also been on the other side of the fence and have had the opportunity to drive other peoples cars and exotics so why not pay it forward. I have friends who are enthusiasts and would love to own an M3, but for various reasons its not in the cards.

As long as I'm in the car giving explicit instructions, sure

I'm with you 100%. My Mum (Mom) is actually more of a car fanatic than my Dad, I'm looking forward to getting her behind the wheel. Although she is a little _quick_ so I'll be sure not to show her how to deactivate DSC or engage MDrive.

Very rarely and only when I have been too tired to drive properly on a longer trip.I am not that anal about my car but I prefer it not be driven by others.Probally once my new car comes that will be a thing of the past as it will be a thing of the past as it is an M-DCT and my wife will drive it from time to time.

Seriously??? A little tight I would say. You need to relax a little bit!

Depends on who it is, if I know them well enough and they know how to drive a 6M, why not.

no chance, even though I trust them when something doesnt
belong to someone there is a lack of care, they would want
to rip the car and see what it can do. If they want to do
that they can go to the dealer and test drive one there.

Wow... you guys take things too serious. So I guess I'll get serious: I'd let people I trust (family and friends) drive it. No problems... as long as I'm in the car too.

Really? If you actually trust someone then it would stand to reason that they would take better care of your car than if it were their own.

I learned to drive stick on my buddy's '99 E36 M3. I've also driven (as DD) another buddy's '01 E46 M3. There is also one more friend who let me drive his brand spankin' new '03 E46 M3 back in the day too. Needless to say, they will all get a turn on mine (after break in though). My wife will drive it. My pops will probably drive it too. My brother MIGHT drive it, but only under highly supervised conditions. Cars tend to go to shit in his hands. I hope to have my mom take a go at it, but I don't think she will.

There's really only one friend that I'm still undecided about. The reason being is because he didn't let me drive his new G35 when he got it back in 08. Gave me the "Sorry, I just don't let anyone drive my car" line. I can respect that though. So what I'm thinking now is this: If he doesn't ask me to drive it (which I doubt he will, because you have to be a stupid muthalucka to ask to drive someone else's car, when you don't let anyone drive yours), then I probably won't offer. If he does ask, I'll probably give him a hard time and call him out for being a bitch and not letting me drive his car, and then say something like "But no worries man, I won't pull that punk bitch move on you so here are the keys".

+1 When I use something that was lent to me from a friend I treat it with respect just like I treat them. If your "friend" has no respect for you or your belongings then they really aren't a friend are they?

I actually enjoy watching my wife or friends blast thru the gears on the M. They have a smile from ear to ear and come to understand my passion. They cant help but acknowledge the sound and feel and it sticks with them forever. Ive taken this approach with every car some less $ than the M and some more. It makes me happy to share my passion with others I care about and it makes them happy too.

Drove it home from pcd with one of my buddies and switched off on the way home (had to finish breakin) and regularly let people drive it... Most people have no idea a car like this exists, they just think it's a bimmer 4 door, but when they drive it....all I can say is nobody hasn't thanked me profusely after driving it... Caring is sharing

Only if the person is into cars and if I saw their driving (especially in traffic). Preferably someone that has a similar type of car.

I'd let any of my friends who wanted to drive my M3 go for it. No matter what car I had, I'd let them drive it. Shit it's just a car. It's for fun.

But this day in age.... the fact that it's 6MT actually stops a lot of people from asking. Amazing how many can't shift gears

I always give my husband a hard time when he says he wants to take up to 7-11 or something. Only because I'm worried I won't get the keys back!

I've offered to let friends drive it and no one has taken me up on it. Some don't know how to drive the 6MT, others have admitted they know they'd have to buy one when they got done and don't want the temptation.
