Service Cost Question

My M3 has 30000 miles on it and is 3 years old in March. Its a keeper so Ive looked after it and always used the dealers.

It's due the following in 1600 miles:

Vehicle Check
Engine Oil
Service Rear Axle Differential
Spark Plugs
Microfilter

and it says "Combined with Engine Oil" next to the last three.

Dealer is quoting 885.

Does that seem right?

Would you go to a BMW specialist rather than dealer given the fact that the warranty expires in March? I expect the cost would be less.

Cheers

Rich

Mine's due the same in 2,600 miles (just done 30,000). I was not expecting a bill that large. Let me know how you get on. I use Wollaston BMW (Northampton).
I just paid 670 for an extended warranty (inc breakdown cover and with 250 excess). Not sure if that means I have to use main dealer servicing - I'll check. Not sure if the planned Eisenmann Race will cause a warranty issue either - shouldn't do but who knows?
Also, make sure they use the revised diff oil to stop the horrible noise in tight turns.

In the States we have a standard 4 year/50,000 mile warranty that includes maintenance items. Surprised to hear the dealer is charging you since it appears you're still within the limits of this?

Turns out there is a BMW and Mini Specialist round the corner. The guy who owns it used to be the Service Manager at the dealer I go to. They seem to have a good reputation so I went round there. The chap was a really good guy, quoted me 600 odd for the same work.

He also pointed out that my rear discs are "ridged" which is surprising as I had all new discs and pads at 5000 miles and Ive only done 30,000 miles (25000 on the new brakes). 600 for rear discs and pads although I'm going to see the dealer about it cos its not right IMO. The dealer have been telling me that the "throbbing" noise from the brakes under high speed braking was due to imaging from the pads when it was stood last January due to snow (stood inside a nice cosy garage as you can see in my sig). Seems that isnt the case at all and its the ridging on the rear discs. bloody dealers.

The dealer has finally agreed to remove the faulty locking wheel nuts from the Works Mini and put a new set on too. A week of arguing the toss. Christ. 190 for rear pads on the Works Mini? Soudns a lot to me, Ill be asking the specialist place for them too.
