M3 vs C63 AMG

I know this has been done a thousand times but I have a spin on it what would be a better grand touring car. What would you rather go in across the country. I know it's partial since this is a BMW forum but put yourselves in both cars and let me know what you would rather gt in and why.

Not really, especially if you have EDC and DCT. It'll be a very comfortable GT car.

Whichever has more comfortable seats and better ergonomics. I think the E9X ergonomics are better than the C63, and although the C63 seats are more form fitting and body hugging, the M3's are comfortable as well.

have you seen those seats in the C63? I drove in a friends to a concert a house away from my house and I wanted to shoot myself. I'm not trying to bash the Benz but I can tell you that the M3 seats are the best in the business. Even compared to the M6 it's a very very comfortable car.

Don't forget you have more settings to play around with to get it just right in the bimmers.

Oh, I don't disagree. They fit me well, but not necessarily for the long haul. Even if they were the same, the E9X's better ergonomics would win for a long drive.

M3 FTW! Such a comfy car indeed although the longest drive I've done was almost 4 hours however the car is a GT as much as FUN to drive just my two cents. Cheers!

I did a 7 hour road trip in my E92 with my wife and 7 month old baby. Very comfortable car though changing the baby's diaper during stops was quite challenging in the car.

I completely agree it that it does hug well but for long periods of time it would become incredibly annoying

You can adjust the side bolsters so it doesn't hug you as much. But that is the whole point of those seats, its meant to be snug.

I went from L.A to Houston and back. No back problems in the E92 M3.

Bavaria to Krakow and back over a four day weekend without complaints, with about 6.5 hours each way. Crappy roads in Poland too!

I have never driven a C63, but I have no complaints with my M3.

I have back problems, and I don't get back pains from driving the M

I did in my 335i (coils stiffest setting with sways...no duh), I do in the Z4, and I do in all the Porsches

But I don't in a C63

Though it does hug me too much ... maybe I need to lose some weight

I think the m3 is very comfortable, and with the ability to put it into Sport and tighten the seats, it's golden.

I do wish the M3 had those fill in seats that the E63 has though

RS4 seats and now the rs5 are the best around, everybody knows that

My opinion about the M3, never drove a C63. Made a trip of 5000km Bucharest to Paris and back. On the way back I made 1200km per day. 2400km in 2 days. I stayed in the car 8-9 hours, stop only for gas. I found the M3 very comfortable for trips like this, even my girlfriend did not complain about the ride quality. I am very pleased with long trips in this car. Also in Romania I made some one day road trips 600 -700 km in the same day, and the roads here are really crappy on some portions and it preformed very well. I really enjoy taking trips in this car.

I'd need to be the driver and do a long road trip in both to know for sure! I've only been a passenger in a C63 but tbh from that limited experience I can't differentiate which would be more comfortable for a long road trip. The C63 can adjust its side bolster just as the M3 can....

There is going to be an awful lot of stops at the pump trying to drive either one of these cars across country.

just to stir the pot
from autoblog today...
Quote:
The facelifted 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG wasn't supposed to see the light of day until the Geneva Motor Show this March, but a sizable batch of photos have leaked out giving us a clear look at what to expect in Switzerland.

On the outside, the C63 gets a set of SL-inspired headlamps with ornate light-piping and LED DRLs mounted in the revised fascia. LEDs make their way to the tail lamps, while redesigned 18-inch wheels fill the wheel wells and frame upgraded brakes.

AMG opted to retain the 6.2-liter V8 instead of fitting its new 5.5-liter biturbo mill, so output remains at 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The Development Package will reportedly stick around for 2012, raising output to 481 hp and nixing the 155 mph limiter to allow the C63 to top out at 174 mph. The sports package also includes a few interior tweaks, a carbon fiber trunk spoiler and red calipers that clamp onto 14.2-inch front discs.

However, the biggest change comes in the form of a new transmission. The C63 now sends power to a seven-speed Speedshift MCT auto 'box which swaps out the conventional torque converter for a high-performance clutch pack said to deliver smoother, more immediate shifts.

After the C63's big day in Geneva, the revised C-Class will go on sale this fall, with the AMG-fettled version getting a very slight bump in price.

Good topic. I am interested in the comforts of long term usage, between the C63 and M3 sedan. I am up for a new car later this year, after buying my wife a new car for Christmas. You don't get a good feel for the comfort in the long term with a test drive.
