BMW Fan Design Study: BMW Z5
BIMMERPOST NEWSBMW Fan Design Study: BMW Z5 A pair of Turkish designers, İsmet Çevik and Fatih Tezel, have come up with an imaginary BMW concept dubbed the Z5. From the looks of it, this is a mid-engined supercar intent on doing battle with the best of them. This is not a real car, or anything that would be concievable given that BMW has already stated its own plans to shakeup the car world with the VisionED/i8 and other possible spin-offs. Nevertheless, its a very cool design study that maintains alot of the distinct features and personality of BMW while adding new not so BMW styling twists, resulting in an overall edgy and modern spin on the car. For me there is nothing BMW about it. I respect the quality of the work because I know I couldn't produce something like that but to me it looks like an R8 sort of shape supercar with no BMW in it. The only BMW is the kidney grilles and the bootlid slightly.

why did they call it a Z5? it has no characteristics of a Z car. if BMW ever made another "supercar" it would come out of M division, and this with its mid engine is more like the M1. it is a cool design, but i would like to see something a little less like an R8 clone.

From certain angles (front 3/4), it looks stunning. However, when you look at it directly from the side, I don't like the bowed appearance of the body. It looks like someone put a boulder on the roof and caused the middle of the body to sag down. Very nice effort, though.

I have to agree 100% with you. Great work, nothing BMW about it...Huge lack is the missing angel eyes that is a design identity of BMW since it's beginnings.

Its got the key design elements that BMW is known for. they have incorporated the front kidneys, the hofmeister kink, sharkfin, these elements that they incorporated truely does resemble what a BMW supercar would probably have.

I love it...sorta like R8 meets LFA. Blows away anything I could ever come up with, which isn't saying too much...lol.
I'm still a little surprised when people rank on BMW for looking similar to some other manufacturer. I'm certain that we could find similarities in every car if we looked hard enough... |

Looks very nice, but not feeling the windshield that extends all the way to the roof-- reminds me of a receding hairline
 Overall, a commendable effort.
