Started my hifi audio upgrade!

http://www.the9thyard.com/2012/03/e9...o-upgrade.html

The link above shows most of the photos.

Equipment:

Technic Harness
JL Audio XD600/6

Thats it! Im using my OEM speakers.

The install was a breeze with Technics amazing harness. The install was so clean and I mounted the amp on the factory amp rack. I used a dremel to cut off 2 tabs to get it to fit.

Result:

Sounds 4 billion times better. Highs are clean and crisp. There is now midbass. and the Subs actually sound great. I played some music with bass. "Lil Wayne Milli" and wow, sounds like a nice single 10".

Then I played a little peter gabriel, "sledge hammer", I am so amazed by how much more dynamic the sound is. The kick-drum is so much tighter.

Front and High gains set to minimum. Subwoofer gains turned up 1/5th.

X-over 160hz for highs and 140hz for the subs.

Super freaking happy. Thanks Technic for the awesome harness!

Now i just need to find subwoofer spacers for future SWS-Xi's. I pm'd jtsherri but go no response.

First thing you do is replace th HIFI tweeters
They suck
But good job on the install
And if you blow your mids
I have some spare

What do you recommend that fits in OEM location and work with the OPs amp?

Dave

only easy fit is the BSW speakers
anything else will require a spacer and is not just a matter of taking off 3 screws, replacing speaker, and outting the 3 screws back in
i'd contact Technic or VP for that

Update.

After playing around with the sound. I noticed the mids were a little muddy and distorted @ 160hz and overall there was a up midbass range was lacking. So I turned up the sub gain to 1/4 of max. I kept the highs at minimum gains. Moved the crossover points to 180hz for the sub and 200hz for the highs.

Result...sounds even better. The muddy sounds are mostly gone. Bass is much punchier. The stock speakers actually handle the power well when crossed at the right freq Hz.

I dont think the Hifi 4" will have an issue with the new power when crossed at 200hz. However, I do question the subs. They sound really good and I dont hear any distortion so far. I also have not turned up the volume near max yet.

If they blow, I will throw in the sws's

How's your setup holding up? I'm thinking about doing the same very soon.

Did you have premium sound and if so would that harness work for the standard us audio system?
