i could take a shot of OEM ones and make them look extremely bright as well. you've got to see them in person.

and yes, tom, comparing two pictures taken of different locations, weather, day, time, etc is really misrepresenting your product. it is not as bright as OEM LCI halos nor as uniform. that said, the AiBs do look like a step from OEM Pre-LCI halos.

Im really not pleased that the 2011 M doesnt come with the new angels.

After picking up my new 550xi last month and seeing the new angels up close I was excited to get them on my M.

Oh well what can you do.

Having used both RD v2, Alpine and AiB (Which I'm on currently). My preference is AiB as the colour output is nice and yes the light is more uniform than that of the others. Yes admittedly it is not as bright as LCI, if that's what you want OSS is your best bet!

Alpine are fantastic for those who want high-power output and dont mind the glare that it throws off to other cars, when its running at full power the inner halos become impossible to look at as the globe lights up the middle of the halo turning it into a dot.

RD v2 isn't really even my thing, too blue in my opinion.

Overall nothing is perfect but there is nothing to stop anyone to undertake a retrofit project for the new LCI lights right? *wink*

the other brand not mentioned here is Lux H8 bulbs...unfortunately 2010 and 2011.2011,5 models are excluded from this product (but testing is going on it seems)...

lux H8 and AiB's are the 2 most talked about LED AE alternatives....there is a recent price increase for the Lux H8 bulbs bringing very close to AiB's now...both about $300...I'm planning on sticking to my cheapo gp thunders for a bit....

^^ I too was sticking with the cheapo route, but couldn't resist trying the LED route with the Weisslichts at a more "reasonable" $150. Is $150 reasonable for a pair of bulbs? Probably not if you ask our wives/spouses, but easier to swallow than $300+.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind paying 300 for a set of AE's, as long as the price is justified in terms of quality in parts and output/brightness.....

I've read of weisslicht's working on a V2, but it's been a few months now and no updates from jlevi regarding this, alpine is also supposedly coming out with an LED set-up, but no recent updates for that either....

***I've read that some actually tint their front headlights a bit with HID AE's to get the look they want as without the tint it's just too bright....

obviously "brightness" can be subjective and definitely hard to capture truly and consistently with a camera......

Whats up Steven? If I remember correctly, they were $170. And I am the one Gene was referring to about tinting the headlights. After installing the Alpine HID's, i was constantly getting flashed by oncoming drivers at night thinking I had my highbeams on. A slight tint on the front headlights from headlightarmor.com solved the problem. They look Awesome night and day and I no longer get flashed at night. The tint was just enough to cut the blur. The Angel eyes are now defined white rings like the non M's. You cant even tell theyre tinted.

IIRC: it's a 50% tint correct you have on the headlights correct?

Correct. It's their lighter version. I believe they have 2 versions.

I'm sure a local tint shop could do the same...by the looks of your sig pic, the headlight tint looks good, not too dark/ricey...

Gene, at first I thought the same. A good tinter can do the same. 2 well known tinters in my area both steered me towards healightarmor. The pieces are laser cut, thick film, and very precise. Took him 5 minutes to put on. His thoughts were that in no way could he have produced the same result on his own. Headlightarmor was definitely the way to go. Here is a pic with no lights on. It's just slightly darker than stock.
