Detailed shots of Brembo's GT-R calipers!
Seeing Brembo's GT-R calipers in person is a rare privalage as is, but the opportunity to install them on a client's car is an absolutely unique opportunity.
The GT-R caliper is the Ferrari of the brake caliper world. The caliper is machined from a single piece of forged billet, the pistons are fitted with precision vented stainless steel inserts which greatly reduce the amount of heat transfer from the pad into the caliper and brake fluid. The already stellar monobloc GT caliper design is improved even further to increase caliper rigidity and reduce caliper weight. The end result is a caliper that offers greater thermo-mechanical resistance, or the ability to resist flex and deformation at elevated temperatures. Then there is the most obvious aesthetic feature - the amazing nickel finish. This is the same nickel plating process used by Brembo in their Formula 1 brake caliper applications. It is absolutely the longest lasting, corrosion resistant, and most heat resistant finish you can put on a caliper. Where some companies may take leftover racing products and adapt them to street cars, or others may make minor modifications to their existing caliper line and give them a more attractive finsih, the Brembo GT-R line of calipers is truly purpose built to provide top level racing technology and performance, to production vehicles that still utilize factory hydraulic systems with ABS and traction control. The complete GT-R system is simply the best of the best in braking technology for sports cars that are equally at home on the street or the race track. It's our pleasure to share these detailed images of the GT-R brake kit with the M3Post community:

Brembo hasn't given us any indication that carbon ceramic will be available anytime soon, but it was discussed that these calipers do have all of the physical heat barriers that would be necessary for a carbon ceramic system. That is to say, the GT-R calipers are more ready for a carbon ceramic application than most of the braking systems I have seen on the market that actually use carbon ceramic discs.

I dont see why not -- theres a Ceramic disc retrofit kit for the Nissan GTR's OE Brembo Calipers -- so why not this.
What is retail on this kit for the front of a e90/e92m3? And what pads come with this kit? |

The GT-R kit comes in the 365/345 and 380/380 disk size combination. The kits sell for $16,390 and $16,790, respectively.
The kit comes with the same Ferrodo FM1000 pads as the standard GT kit. They are versatile pads are work well in a mixed use street and sports driving setting. The same array of more dedicated pad choices are available that are available for the GT kit, as well.

It's really more of a testament to how great of a pad that is. The Ferodo FM1000 is a proprietary pad compound developed specifically for these sort of high performance applications. The great thing about the GT-R brake kit is that you can chose quite a few of the specs yourself, from pad compound to rotor size, to rotor style. Obviously the rotor dimensions and styles that are available need to be approved by engineering, but pads are a very subjective item for the driver and you can make that call.

So GTS drivers can upgrade their cars now with slip-on style...

Such attention to detail. Obviously they look excellent, but are there performance benefits over the lower priced Brembos as well?

Not likely. Same problem as the regular Brembo 6 pots.
