What's the best driving shoe?

I've never owned a pair of driving shoes but I think it would make a good Christmas gift. Is there any out there that are a standout best?

Puma's motorsport collection is pretty cool, but not solely for racing purposes.

I also think the Lacoste slip-ons are great because they are nice and narrow, but still comfortable. They aren't dedicated driving shoes though.

We've got a good selection of the DC shoes:

Personally, I look for shoes that have a fairly thin sole I like to be able to feel how much pressure I'm applying to the pedals.

I got Piloti's too.

But brand ain't all that important. Just find a thin sole shoe that is comfortable and not too chunky.

I wore kart racing shoes for years. I used them while karting, and carried them over into the car....and they were cheap too.

in general i don't like puma's. they tend to be very narrow right at the ball of the feet and when heel/toe'ing my foot can slip between the pedals if i'm not careful. the shoes were more designed for single seaters for instance the ferrari tribute shoes. also the extremely narrow sole is not comfortable when you have to walk in them as well. I switched to Piloti's about 7 years ago and never looked back. they are perfect for heal/toe and comfortable once you are out of the car as well.

Yes, the right shoe looks slightly different than the left shoe...

not all Puma's are good driving shoes. I own 4 pairs of different Puma shoes. The best type has to be a thinner sole and narrower design.

I have these Michelins:

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/28/i...chelin-mxv4-dr

They actually offer a lot of feel since the sole is not solid but several small pieces, I have found them to work pretty well (maybe not as good as five fingers though).
