Personally, I have a set of 20's with the following wheel/tire sizes:
20x9" front with 255/30/20 Nitto Invo's 20x10.5" rear with 305/25/20 Nitto Invo's I'm not crazy about the tires whatsoever (came with the wheels) and will be getting 295/25/20 rear Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's next. I also have Eibach springs. Hope that helps give you an idea of what other members are running.

I went with 20x9 et22, 20x10 et22 wrapped in 255/30/20, 285/30/20 Michelin PS2. Pretty conservative I know but I didn't want any issues with fender rubbing as I'm lowered.

I run a similar setup. 20"x9"F and 20"x10.5"R with 255/30/20 and 285/30/20 Vredesteins. The goal is to maintain the overall diameter to as close to the OEM sizes as possible. The profile of the tire is adjusted as the tire increases in width to maintain the overall diameter.
