^^^exactly. I have driven a GTR for a year and a half and have never encountered a negative comment(well other than in the anonmity of the internet). It has garnered more positive feedback than my M6, M3, and CLK63 Black Series combined. I'm not suggesting you like it because of what other people think but to say it's just another Nissan is absurd.

I've had a few cars recently including an '08 IS-F, '10 E90 M3 DCT, '11 GT-R, '09 997.2 C2s and a '11 Mustang GT500. Today I placed a deposit on a 2012 GT-R. What does this mean? First, I trade cars WAY to much. Second, I have come to the conclusion that the GT-R is a good fit for ME.
There is no perfect car, but the GT-R is as close as it get for me within my budget constraints. I wouldn't expect others to agree with my decision because we all have different wants and needs. I'm just glad there are so many great automotive choices for car enthusiasts today. |

Comparisons really depend on what track you use to measure.
You can nit pick about how one car 'spanks' another because it's 0.1 seconds faster on a given track... but it's pointless really. Roll up to another track and the tables turn. Different cars have different strengths. Rarely is one car close in performance to another, and simultaneously better in all measures. This one at least has a good list by make&model : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ower_Lap_Times 2009 GTR is in good company. Both above and below. The car is fine. They're all fine. Just cars. -scheherazade |

I am mad I just read all 4 pages of this nonsence... the GTR is a overly incredable car. Period. The M3 is perhaps one of the best cars ever made as well. But the point of this thread was to look at this GTR do 0-62 in 3 seconds.... not to say the GTR is a Nissan or the M3 is better... that this car with its AWD and Launch control did something that is totally bad ass!
I had a STi that didnt have launch control and on a 1/4 mile drag I ran 9's. my 0-60 was 3.5 on avg and I had a shit ton of $$$ invested in that motor, transmisson, drivetrian, you name it... maybe not 90k but damn, for 90k you get a sorta ugly sorta cool looking, ok interior with some cool gadgets, sound system (which my STi did not have) AWD, G monitor, big brakes ect ect ect... thats a pretty good deal... Z06 -ACR Viper good if not way better! The M3 is a drivers car through and through... the GTR is a Super Car for 1/4 of a Super Car price. It may be "ugly" or "just a Nissan" but it is awesome! I've driven one and given it all sorts of hell and smiled the whole time.... that is what a true performance car of any sort of name should do. Period GTR = Awesome.... M3 as well

No matter what opinion some folks may have about the GT-R, one thing that can't be overlooked is the performance...it's damn impressive.

Does anyone drag for money here???
No? Then what does .2 .3 .4 .5 seconds matter? Irritating to always see a thread about another car and everyone is either for or against it. Can't we all just agree that the GTR is a badass ride for the price??? Just the same as the M3 is badass for its price.

I've driven the GT-R on normal roads and had a blast. However, it can get a bit uncomfortable for rides that last more than 45 mins whereas the M3 is a perfect touring car. That being said, I would probably buy a GT-R over an M3. But I do also own an X5M which is a perfect substitute for an M3.... 

Recently bought a 2009 low mileage GTR. M3 is a great car, but decided on the GTR based on performance, and I love the aggressive look of the GTR. Obviously not for everyone. For now, I'm glad I went with the GTR, though I miss the manual shifting.

The GT-R may not appeal to everybody in the looks department but there is no denying its epic performance. Personally, I'm not that crazy about the front end but the rest of the car looks great! The performance of this machine is nothing short of amazing! There are a few on this forum that only see "M3" and nothing else. As for us TRUE car enthusiast, we can see and appreciate many other makes and models for their design, engineering, technology and performance.

Bonkers - and a bit pointless? [not the GT-R, just the 0-60 obsession] Still, would love to try that slingshot I agree. But to your 2nd point, 1 / 5 would be an M3 simply because it's a magnificent all-rounder. And I'd be tempted to have a GT-R too. But still would take a F458 ahead of these 2.

The GT-R is a great car. Performance for the price is very impressive. I'm just not a fan of the styling....or the per-portions. It feels big.

I agree that it is annoying. I hope Nissan treats the GTR right and has produced a quality car and stands by the buyers. I've had Nissan's before and have had quality issues/electrical failures etc. Still, my experience could be the exception. The GTR is in a different league from a SER/Spec V, Maxima, Pathfinder etc. It definitely is not an altima.
