Just picked up my new 2011 M3 coupe DCT (loaded) . I live in a big City (San Francisco) and commute daily to the suburbs (about 60 miles roundtrip - all hwy). Wondering what M Drive settings forum users prefer for daily City vs. Hwy driving.

I read that for City traffic Normal or Comfort is ideal but would like to know your suggestions for Drivelogic, EDC, etc.

Thanks.

i used to have have all mine in extreme mode which was sports all the way... but then got sick and tired of it... now its in comfort mode basically everything OFF...

this is driving from highway mostly but realized when im stuck in traffic and want to cut off pretty quick i have it on and off but after driving 30k miles in 10 months cause of travelling 45miles one way realized the comfort mode is the best settings specially in traffic. plus im not tense when driving the car cause it feels like its a normal car.... LOL

sorry if nothing makes sense im typing from my iphone

Comfort all the time, normal throttle, sport steering.

The sport steering is the extent of the sportiness for daily traffic duties. Normal EDC is okay but comfort is awesome for the broken pavement my city considers drivable roads.

I totally agree with you on this... Funny how i found out about the Comfort option after 6 months cause i was just so into all sports mode... then got sick and tired of the M mode so now everything is on the lowest settings. which is freakin great..

So put it all in comfort mode and then just press the M button if you want to cut people off

right?

I set the M Driving setting with the ones that cannot be selected by the buttons. So:
Servo - Sport
Throttle - Sport +
DSC - MDM
EDC - Normal
DKG - S5

Hard to say at this point because I've been doing a hybrid break-in (not too babied and a little spirited) and only have about 1,200 miles so far. The MPGs aren't going to be very attractive, but I think as you get familiar with your car, you can easily adjust from spirited driving to 'comfort'. You'll be visiting the gas station at least twice a week, probably more.

I don't mind because I love driving the car and I don't drive much on weekends living in the City.

What's ~ $50 for a fill-up when you spend $80k?! =)

Congrats on your order man! The M3 will be a nice upgrade from your 335!

Thanks man...I drive every single day so I'm sure I'll be going to the gas station twice a week. Gas is a least of my concerns (not expecting an M3 to be as good as the 335i) but, nevertheless, still a concern since it'll be my daily driver. My car arrives at the port today =)
