I make my living installing clear bra and I voted no. When you trade in your car you won't save any money by having a clear bra installed.

On the other hand, if you really want the appearance to be sharp 24/7, have it done.

Thanks for the article. I'm not quite sure how orange peel pertains to this discussion other than your point that our cars have water-borne base-coat and solvent-borne clear-coat. The fact remains that, after 5 bmws that I've owned (I know, I should get out more) this generation's finish is remarkably delicate compared to any previous.

I don't think anyone's debating that. ALL manufacturers use water-based basecoats now and they ALL suck in comparison to older models.
