It's karma for Savard's bite that didn't lead to any suspension; Horton's unacceptable water bottle throwing/squirting tirade against a fan, and Lucic's numerous cheapshots.

Don't listen to CDNRockies -- he spews nonsense most of the time. Burrows is a hero
VANCOUVER — This time, Alex Burrows really took a bite out of the Boston Bruins. The Vancouver winger scored two goals, including the winner 11 seconds into overtime, and set up another as the Canucks beat the Bruins 3-2 Saturday night to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Stanley Cup final. Burrows scored on a wraparound seconds after Boston defenceman Andrew Ference turned the puck over at his own blue line. Ference's clearing attempt was picked off by Alex Edler, who chipped the puck to Daniel Sedin, who in turn found Burrows at full speed. He skated around a diving Boston goalie Tim Thomas and Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara before tucking the puck into the open net. "Burr is a special player," said Vancouver centre Ryan Kesler. "He finds ways to score those big goals and thank God, he was on the ice tonight. To outreach a guy of Chara's size and to battle and finish it off the way he did shows something about his work ethic and his will." Game 3 of the series goes 5 p.m. Monday at the TD Garden in Boston (CBC, Team 1040) and the Bruins have the odds stacked against them. Boston is 1-26 in franchise history when losing the first two games of a playoff series. The only time the Bruins have done it came in the first round of this year's playoffs when they rebounded from 0-2 to beat the Montreal Canadiens in seven games. NHL teams falling down 0-2 in the Stanley Cup final are 4-42. Burrows shook off the Game 1 controversy he found himself immersed in after he was alleged to have bitten the finger of Boston forward Patrice Bergeron. He said it didn't affect him, but bothered his parents. "The negative press I have been getting the last few days doesn't affect me at all," he said. "I don't read you guys, I don't listen to you guys a lot. But if affects my parents and my dad listens to everything and it affects him and he told me to go score some goals. He said that's what is going to hurt them. I listened to his advice and it worked out." Burrows, who opened the scoring at 12:12 of the first on a Vancouver power play, also set up Daniel's Sedin's tying goal at 9:37 of the third period with a slick pass that left Daniel with most of the net to shoot at. The play started when Edler took a shot from the right point. Burrows knocked it down in front of the net and dished a beautiful pass to Daniel, who scored from the left circle. "Anybody that follows our team knows he's a really important part of our team," Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault said of Burrows. "He plays five-on-five, he plays power play and he kills penalties. So, you know, he's overall one of our go-to guys. Again tonight he came up big in key moments." Burrows' game-winning goal is the second-fastest overtime goal in Stanley Cup final history. The only shorter overtime was nine seconds, ended on a goal by Brian Skrudland of the Montreal Canadiens in Game 2 of the 1986 Stanley Cup final at Calgary. Stop talking hockey. It is so blatantly obvious you know NOTHING about the game that it is pathetic. ![]() I have said all along that he is a very good hockey player but there is no excuse for playing the way he does. But morons like you that have never played the game at a highly competitive level would know fuck all about that. |
