Both colors look great, but I went with black. I know it's a major PITA to keep, but I don't mind. For a car like the M3, I think black makes it look more menacing (especially with blacked out grills). Plus when clean, it really shines.

I've had 2 white E90s and although I get a bit bored with it at times, it looks great.

Black looks awesome, especially when clean, but the thing that I don't like about black on the M3 is that it hides some of the aggressiveness of the bumpers (the shape of the front bumper and its air intakes, and the honeycomb in the rear bumper). I saw a new jet black E90 M3 ZCP on the lot at my dealer a couple of weeks ago and it looked awesome and menacing but I hated how I had to make an effort to notice the styling details.

I alternate between black and white cars all the time, the white ones are usually a backlash after trying to keep black cars clean..

I did black on the M3, I think it makes it more subdued. I agree white brings out the styling more though, I wanted as low profile as possible this time around.

I'd love to see someone go ALL WHITE... only because no one does it. It would make you stand out. White grilles, white wheels, accent markers, white mirror caps, clear headlights, bright white angel eyes, and any other accent they can do in white. (and though you aren't doing this, maybe a platinum interior).

I'm biased.

But every time I see a white M3, I'm glad I chose jet black over white. In my opinion, the white just doesn't look nearly as good in person. The only other color that I've seen in person in the M3 that makes me 2nd guess my jet black pick is melbourne red, which looks awesome. And I never even considered red. If I had it to do again, it would be between jet black and melbourne red. I think I'd still pick jet black.

If you get jet black, tint the windows as quickly as possible. (Before tinting, get used to the car's visibility while driving.) Totally changes the complexion of the car. Makes it much sportier. I've seen tinted and untinted jet black next to each other, and they look worlds apart.

I do agree that the lighter colors really accentuate the muscularity and uniqueness of the M3. But black just looks so mean and sporty.

Let me warn you: black shows imperfections very easily. It's not that it's hard to keep clean, just don't be lazy and wash it once or twice a week. It just shows imperfections very readily. But most people, I believe, look at the totality of the car. They don't focus on some swirls on the paint, unless they're really bad.

Hope this makes sense, I'm typing while a bunch of people are talking in the room.

White give you more flexibility. If you don't wash it for a while it will be closer to grey. Sometimes it will have a nice fade from white -> grey -> smoke grey at the bottom. But most of all, when it is time to wash it, there is no better feeling than seeing that white come back to life, transforming to a white so bright.

I like seeing such a dramatic change after putting some muscle into it. Then the wax, damn.

Murder it!Jet Black is not impossible to keep looking good. I sold mine after owning 2 years and the paint was still like new! Nothing beats a jet black car that is so clean and shiny!
