Video: OEM Exhaust Mod vs M Performance Exhaust

I made a short comparison clip comparing the MPE to the OEM exhaust mod. Both cars are stock, e92 has the MPE and e93 has the OEM mod (perforated method). Short review after the video for anyone interested.

My dream exhaust was always the MPE but I decided to get the OEM mod done while I saved up for the MPE. However, I've grown to like the OEM mod a lot in the last couple of months that I've had it. MPE sounded good in person from outside the car but I was surprised at how quiet it was from inside the car. I thought the perforated mod was pretty quiet but MPE was even quieter, almost to the point where it felt stock.

So which exhaust sounds better? To me, both sound great in their own way. However, if I had to choose, I think I will go with the OEM mod. It's got more grunt, aggressiveness and volume while costing literally about $2000 less. I just wish the MPE was as loud as the OEM mod, then it would've been perfect. If I were to run TP or x-pipe I would choose the MPE though. But if the x-pipe will remain stock, OEM mod all the way.

Oh, and anyone with a vert will REALLY appreciate the OEM mod with the top down. I only had 2 chances to drop the top since I did the mod and I can't WAIT until summer time. It really sounds GLORIOUS!

One of the things I love about aftermarket exhausts is the immediate noise that is yielded upon startup. I've noticed that the OEM mod actually takes a few seconds to produce the "real" sound. In any event, my OEM mod gets compliments routinely and I love it.

Thanks for sharing! I'm a sucker for the MPE, but I'm having a hard time swallowing with the price.

I currently have the OEM exhuast mod, deleted resonators and test pipes, two owners that have aftermarket exhaust, Borla attack and Active signitue both wish they had my exhuast after hearing my car by them during the DCI rally under full load. OEM exhuast will stay on my car until I sell it.

Both sound great but like you said different. That's the OEM mod I'd opt for if going that route. Thanks for putting that together.

MPE + ACM Test Pipes sounds epic.
ACM Exhaust mod sounds great alone with out any cat delete.

I've had both and loved them but i moved to a new Gintani Sport with no x-pipe so far i love it but want more volume so i might put test pipes or a full x depending on how loud it would be.

Great exhaust systems btw and enjoy with good health!
