LSD M3 Gullwing Lambo Doors Kit

We're personally not a huge fans of gullwings on a BMW, but seeing aftermarket innovations technologies for BMWs never gets old. LSD has now released its LSD gullwing door plates for the M3. Details inside.

Quote:
LSD Press Release:

Wings for the BMW M3: LSD gull-wing door plates now available individually. Safety confirmed by EEC crash test guideline. With part certificate by the Technical Control Board (TÜV). With GRS+ for even more safety and precision when opening and closing the doors.

Vehicle-specific solution made in Germany
Assembly at the original door attachments points
Now also individually as Driver- or Co-Driver set

With gull-wing door plates by LSD, the BMW M3 (E90/E92/E93) becomes a real head-turner. LSD offers the hinges either as a complete set for both doors including hinges, cable set fitting materials and attachments for only 1749 Euro including VAT. Now the hinges are also available for each door individually. This lowers the entry price to 799 Euro for the hinge.

The matching cable set is available for 200 Euro. Therefore everyone can arrange his LSD doors as required or buy the complete set which already includes all necessary components.

The plates are equipped with the new GRS+ (Guided Roller System). It offers an adjustment possibility with the roller guidance of the roller bearing integrated in the hinges and additional stability through a catch which that locks in fully-opened condition. This results in more safety and more precise opening and closing of the door.

LSD plates are delivered with a part certificate by the German Technical Control Board which ensures that the LSD gull-wing doors fulfil all security standards.

Compared to other retrofit-sets for gull-wing doors, the LSD plates “made in Germany“ impress with a fully developed technology and the highest-possible quality standard. Moreover, a test laboratory accredited by the Federal German Transport Authority confirmed in a side crash-test that the LSD-solution which is patented in Germany is as safe as any serially fitted door. That means that passenger safety in a side crash is guaranteed according to guideline 96/27/EG by the LSD hinge system. LSD enables an easy and quick assembly without welding or painting works and impresses by its perfect fitting accuracy due to its three-dimensional adjustment.

The LSD plates are fitted to the original door attachment points of the dismantled original plates. After the assembly, the otherwise unchanged original door first opens outwards and then securely guided and damped upwards. Adjustable plates stop doors from opening too far or from falling inwards or downwards when opened. And also, it only takes one grip to close the doors. The LSD gull-wing doors render a sensational look to any car and are the ideal solution of fans of extraordinary tuning- and show cars. The LSD door plates can be obtained directly from LSD or from a specialist dealer.

Have you guys considered how useful these are?
Think about how LOOOOONG the doors are on this car.
Park next to something, and the door barely swings open before it hits whatever is next to you.
Then you gotta shuffle and slip out sideways...

Opening the door up would really make it easier to get in/out when parked in a tight parking lot.

Not a fan of the 'I wish I had a lambo' aspect - but I really could have used these with my coupe. This would have saved me a good bit of trouble on many occasions.

So, +1 for me.

LSD offers Gullwing Doors

http://www.autoweek.com/article/2010...NEWS/101019880

The BMW M3 is a potent performer right off the showroom floor. Intake, exhaust, plugs, wires--these are things that M3 drivers don't need to worry about. But what if you're looking for some flash to go along with your fast?

German tuner LSD has an answer--gullwing doors. The company now offers gullwing-door plates for the E90, the E92 and the E93 versions of the BMW M3. LSD hinges are available as a complete set for both front doors including hinge plates, cable set materials and attachments for $2,418. Buyers can also get a one-door setup for $1,104 on the driver's side.

All kits include a guided roller system that's integrated into the hinges for safety. The system offers three-dimensional adjustments and a catch that locks the door in the upright position.

LSD doors meet all safety standards from the German Technical Control Board. They've been tested in side-crash accidents to prove that they are as safe as stock equipment.

The hinges attach in the stock locations without welding or painting. After assembly, the doors open outward then upward. Adjustable plates stop the doors from opening too far or falling down unexpectedly.
