Why do people care?

We all hear the allegations about Obama being a muslim. What I want to know though is why do some people have such a huge issue over it. Let's say he is a muslim, why do these people care? Yes, the people who attacked us on 9/11 were muslim. But, they were radical muslims distorting their religions beliefs to justify their own actions. Certainly, not all muslims are terrorists and you don't have to be muslim to be a terrorist.

We live in the US where people are free to practice whatever religion they want. We are not a christian nation. We should not care what religion our president is. All we should care about is if he/she is going to lead our country to prosperity and a path down success. Religion should not matter and trying to just makes these people sound intolerant.

IF..... he were indeed muslim. The only thing that would matter to me would be him lying about it, claiming one thing and being another. But hey, he's a politician which apparently obligates him to lie about everything.

That would be it for me as well.

I happen to watch a lot of news form all different sources. My job is directly tied to world events. I have to say that I cannot ever remember FOX News (or any other outlet) saying Obama was or is a Muslim. Do you have a clip or any proof?

What is not disputable is that he spent at least 20 years in Black Liberation Theology.

Which is worse? Black Liberation Theology? or muslim? My initial thought is that a generic BLT is worse than a generic muslim. Yet Obama is not generic. He is a radical.

Attacks on him being a Muslim were early smear points, and yes, some people still point to it all the time. But now that Obama has been in office and we have seen what he can (well really can't) do, it's really not about that anymore. It's about his ineptness with no regard to religion.

Surprised it took so long to bring up Jeremiah Wright.

Ineptness certainly does not describe Obama. However, I can think of a guy who does fit the description....

You might be displeased with how he has handled things, but he is one of the brightest, most intelligent men ever to inhabit the White House. Unfortunately, that very fact is what upsets some people.

Not really upset. It is just government as I had expected it to be with Obama as the jackass in chief. Well, maybe upset is a reasonable word. But your assumption as to why upset is totally upside down.

Bright and intelligent enough to totally squander a monumental political victory, alienate a huge number of the voters that put him in office and basically turn victory into defeat in less than two years. There are a lot of kinds of intelligence--apparently his lends itself to total and complete political ineptness.

Obama, intelligent? Not even close! Obama, scam artist? Spot on!

If GWB is a moron, then Obama must be below a "bug wit!"

Obama and Michelle together can't use an umbrella.

Fair enough. I was just messing with you anyway.

But......somehow government under McCain/Palin would have been better?

I opposed McCain for some of the same reasons I opposed Obama. I voted for Chuck Baldwin and would do it again without hesitation.

It's unfortunate McCain had his several million to spend on his primary campaign to run for reelection to the Senate.

What exactly has been squandered? Midterm elections are usually where losses are sustained by the party in power? You see this as strange? Democrats aren't the party that is splintering at the moment (Tea Party candidates knocking off GOP vets), voters are pissed at everyone in congress.

IMO, stating that Obama has squandered his presidency says that you don't really understand the impact of a global recession/near depression and how close the U.S. came to 15-20% unemployment. Don't worry though, you've got lots of company in that regard. Until you can appreciate how bad things could have been you will have no appreciation for how to judge the current state of the U.S. economy.

Well then. It sounds as though it's time for a serious third party option! I'd say it's about time.
