This is a photshop of a camo'd mule, not a spy picture. It is also heavily modified/interpreted. You can find the post where the author/artist posted this work on m3post in another thread.

So the white one is obviously a photoshop, but the grey one is real, as far as we can tell?

The grey one seems very real to me, especially since it looks like part of the front bumper is falling off in the 2nd pic.... the little black piece drooping down underneath.

Thumbs up Various comments

Well, I like!! Glad to see that camo slowly coming off.

It is hilarious how slow it is coming off though, like 2 sqaure inches as a time. Ugh. You have to wonder how much the marketing folks are planning, scheming and arguing about this, "no let's take off 1 square inch this time and really make them sweat".

Again the likeness to the Autobild photos ( http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13345 ) from early this year are amazing esp. the match on the front end. I think now that we have a good idea of the side skirt design you can see traces of it in many previous camo'd mule shots (see below)

Definitely liking both the hood (looks tripled tiered and bad ass to me) and wheels. These are so much better than the other 10 split spokers we have seen a lot of - closer to optional E46 M3 19s. Lastly I like the little fins that seem to be closing off the outside edges of the exhaust pipes (see below).

joerockets: Great first post, hilarious photo, just about right on the mark. I like the deep inset "mouth" on the front end, though. That as well as the side skirt remind me a bit of the 996 Porsche turbo.

devo: I am sure the new M3 will get nice brakes both large and cross drilled. We have seem cross drilled on almost all, if not all mules thus far. Have a look here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13173

zuggerat89: +1 on the M5 bumper comment - I totally agree.

Bartolomeo: What is the source of the pics? A random passerby/enthusiast? Where were they taken?

Damn BMW - unmask that read and let us know where the plate will reside!

Send a message via MSN to tokion
by looking at the pictures, i think the side skirts will look similar to the M6 one.

I was hoping that they werent going to go this direction with the front bumper but I have to say that its growing on me a little. I said the same thing about the E46 M3 so I am not worried. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Remember these from a while back? So, I guess we've seen it all along but didn't really know it. Its pretty close.

Sadly, I'm not in love. I find the lower bumper style to be maybe the most important element on exterior design. I'm hoping either, it will grow on me, or BMW is screwing with us still. I can pray anyway. In my daily prayers, I include an M5'ish style for the bumper.

Little bit of proof that this lower bumper style has existed on the camo'ed mules we've been seeing.

Examine the bit of white thru the camo on the center section of the lower bumper. It angles down/outward. This center section of the lower bumper would go down/inward if the center section would be M5'ish style.

I've never seen these before! That looks 100% on par with these new grey spy shots. I hope it grows on me also.

The source is GTspirit.com and the pictures were taken by some auto enthusiast called Giszmo (respect to Giszmo, great snap).

Well thanks for clearing that up and for stating the bleeding obvious.

I know very well that the pic of the silver M3 is a photoshop of a camo'd mule. I read the thread. Where do you think I copied the picture from?

As I was specifically referring to the wheels which are completely unaltered from the spy shot to the photoshop, what difference does it make?

Ok. To be more precise. The wheels on the "silver M3 mule with camo on, which was used for the basis of the photoshop in the picture below" is wearing what look like will be the standard 18" wheels. And the grey M3 in the picture below that, look like what will be the optional 19" wheels.

My point is that they are obviously different. The height of the tyre sidewall for one. The other major difference is the shape of the spokes. On the 18" wheels in the photo/spy shot, they get thinner towards the hub of the wheel. On the grey spy shot they are the same width almost for the entire length of the spoke.

I was responding to the poster who stated the M3 needed an "original" bumper vs. having one that looked exactly like the M5 bumper.(like the grey photoshop in this thread) They both have the \_/ design while the M3 spyshots have the /-\ design. Well the /-\ wouldn't give the E92 M3 and "original" bumper design because the Z4 M has the /-\ style bumper. Hope that makes sense.

I hope that they make it something more like the bottom front of the E60 M5, the new Z4 M Coupé ... because what I see now on this spy pic is idious.

As you can tell I'm not a big fan of the M6's front bumper bottom.
