That's neat.... I've never seen/heard an SMG shifting at full throttle. It gives you 2nd gear scratch... I thought the shifts would be even quicker though... was that in the fastest shift mode?

Thanks for the video, nice.

Great Vid....Has anyone seen the 335i beat the E46 M3? I have heard some say the 335i will kill then E46 m3!
Its it that close thats its up to the driver? or the M3 just kills it. Would anyone have first hand experiance
on a race between the 2?

Jack

I have both cars although one is a sedan. I have not reced them yet because the sedan only has 500 miles so far. I think it will be a pretty close race. The 335i is very deceptive in hauling ass. The handling does not feel the same in my opinion. The M3 is much more fun but the sedan is quieter which is why we bought it. More to come...

I'm the driver of the e46 m3. How is that a crappy video? Lol, turn up the brightness a bit and your good.

BTW, the M3 is 6-speed not SMG.

its a drivers race, but I would give a slighttt, verry slight nudge to the m3, especially 100+.

Most things I have seen have the M3 faster. One forum I was one said the 335 with it's TT could do 30 - 70 mph in 6th gear faster than an M3. I was thinking about that and thought that's irrelevant, noone would even stay in 6th while only doing 30....

I'm in Stuttgart and my cousin is picking up a new 335i in Munich before shipping it back to TX, in May I think, it should be fun to have the two side-by-side!!

Just at the end of that clip, the M3 pulls out a nice lead in about a second, clearly the Double VANOS doing its thing higer up the rev range. Give me an N/A with a wide powerband anyday.

Ditto that! I like the characteristics of the N/A BMW ///M engines and can't wait to experience the new V8. Although I have an Eaton supercharged '06 Mustang also, and it has its charms, I really prefer N/A.
