The Social Network

Who's going to see this?

This is probobly one of my most anticipated movies ever. I could care less about the Facebook tie-in... the story/characters/etc are what I'm most interested in.

Lets see....

Aaron Sorkin (arguably one of the best writers out there) - Check
David Fincher (Director of Seven/Fight Club/Benjamin Button, etc.) - Check
Trent Reznor (score) - Check

As long as the actors don't f it up, it should be really REALLY good. Up until recently it was 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatos (down to only 98% now).

I'm pumped!!

I'm equally as stoked to see this. The writer and director were also my main attractions. I had no idea Trent Reznor was on the score though?!

Excited!

I read the book when it first came out. I respect the hustle they went through to make it what it is today.

I never realized how timing was everything for the boom, ie with Myspace and the affordable prices of digicams and high speed internet.

I want to see this and Wall Street.

saw it--wasnt as bad as i thought it would be---actually worked fairly well as a character study (i remember similar personality types back in my engineering days, albeit w/o the $$$ idea).

that, and it captured some of the entitlement and privilege that you would typically associate w/ the ivy league (remember when you needed to have any ivy.edu email addy to join?)

Great movie, loved the overall feel and script. Fincher and Sorkin did an awesome job on this, as expected. Trent Reznor scored the film perfectly as well.

I saw it. Thought it was very good. Great dialogue and story.

It seems that everyone liked it. Highest rating i can remember seeing on metacritic(rating system that moviefone used to use).

the ending was a little unbelievable I find.

as for the Social Network
is it a retell of the true story, or some hollywood version?

The write was saying that its holds VERY closely to the transcripts that came out of the deposition room.

saw it last night and im my book it is a must see. cool score as well. the acting was a perfect match to the screen writers style.

A+

Finally saw it last night. The whole theatre was still packed. I thought it was OK at best. It was lengthy, but didn't cover everything the book does, which made me appreciate his grind even more, ie how he turned down a billion dollars in cash offer from Yahoo. There were also cool facts stated in the book like how a former coder went on to be the founder of YouTube.

I couldn't help but notice the actor who portrayed Mark had a Michael Cera characteristic to him, lol.

haven't seen it yet, but my friend from harvard used to work for facebook in the startup days since he was on the same dorm hall as mark. he was called up when the book was being written and asked for interviews, although he decided to not say anything and participate.

he said the movie is highly exaggerated (obviously)

he does have a small entry in the book though for those of you who've read it (but didn't make it into the movie), there's a small section that talks about them having a company party and a bus was rented to drive them around. after the party, there's this drunken asian dude who was way trashed, and he ended up throwing up in the bus, and somehow in the bus's ventilation system or something and ended up breaking down the bus. cost the company thousands (which was pretty significant in their early days). that dude was him.
