Dakar Edition M3s still available at Canadian dealerships??

Hey Everyone !

So I was hoping to get some help from the Canadian residents of our board.

For some time now I've been looking to order a Dakar Yellow M3 Coupe through the European Delivery Program. (Important to note that I live in the United States). In my discussions with BMW M & Individual 2 days ago, it came to light that there are still TWO (2) Dakar Yellow Edition M3's available in Vancouver Canada. At this point I'm thinking, if these cars are still available, it might be wise to come to Canada, pick up the car there, and save myself not only a few months of tedious waiting, but also get the beautiful custom stitching in the Edition M3's.

Does anyone know where these cars can be found? Also, assuming these cars are still around, does anyone know their price points?

Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance you guys for the help.

Hey man, thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I looked at the link. Given that I"m not familar with Canadian M3 pricing, I'm curious what the lowest I can get these guys to go, especially since the car has 5k miles on it, and has been on their showroom for a while.

FYI - A similarly equipped car via ED (including Dakar paint and Dampening control, but not the custom interior) would be almost exactly 70k USD.

Thoughts? Also, if you happen to come upon the other Dakar Edition M3, please let me know.

Our Canadian price are crazy, imo ur best option is ED

I think these guys have one as well, it doesn't really say what the color is but it sayd individual color.

I tend to agree with you that this is probably the other Dakar Edition M3, though it doesn't come right out and say it. This one is better loaded, and has less miles, for not much more. But i think you might be right about ED being the smarter option. I don't know if I can justify an extra 10k just to avoid the 3 month ED delay and get that interior. (BMW Individual cannot reproduce this interior, because they are out of the yellow leather for the yellow insert strips in the seats).

How are the reputations of those two dealerships? Negotiable?

Thanks again for all the info fastrack.

You will pay 40% more if you buy an m3 in Canada.

Come to Canada and get boned. Most Canadians are trying to buy M3's in the US. But I guess your dealing with a supply and demand problem. Good luck with your purchase.

What's drawing me to the canadian Dakar cars, is not just that its in Dakar; I can get Dakar on my own. Its the fact that the cars are the "EDITION" M3's which were never released in the US. They come with a few unique touches, which amongst others includes a custom stitched interior with contrast leather inserts.

My thought process on it was "if i can get the Dakar Edition M3, save myself a few months wait, and get the custom interior i like so much, it might be worth a small markup and driving over to canada to pick up the car" But as i look more and more at these canadian prices, I realize the markup is huge compared to US cars, and doesn't justify it.

It's sort of unfortunate how much worse canadians have it as far as car prices go.

Yeah, we know,

It's better than buying an M3 in most other countries though.

Gotta wait and see what happens with the Canadian dollar and whether the car makers adjust prices. When I ordered my M3 in May 2009 the C$ was around 0.85 US$ the cost advantage was just about eaten up by Import duties and other costs of import.

Bad timing!

You are right but the capacity of the winshield washer reservoir is almost twice the capacity of the U.S. models allegedly.

BMW sets prices for their cars in Canada just like Porsche -- even though they are made at the same plant and US dollar/CDN dollar are nearly par.

You will not likely to be able to negotiate more than 2K off the asking price -- but the dealers are hungry here so you never know

BMW store in Vancouver is a good dealer -- I have been there many times. The Dakar Yellow one has been there a while. The individual paint package adds almost $10K CDN to the price -- that 's why I went with a standard color -- it's a rip off here

If you need any more info PM me

Agreed. Try buying an M3 in Taiwan or Singapore. From what I heard they cost the equivilant of $200 000 over there. One of my employees just came to Canada from India and he told me that if you can afford a Honda Civic over there you are considered very wealthy man. So Canada and US are pretty lucky.
