Interesting freeway picture

I took this picture tonight at around 9:30pm.

15 second exposure, pretty wide open aperture, fairly low ISO (I think either 50 or 100).

I like it! notice the honest to goodness stars! you thought we couldn't see those in LA, but you were wrong! =)

Actually, traffic wasn't very heavy at all, it's just that plenty of cars had time to drive by. I had such a long shutter because I wanted more than just the lights, I wanted the hills, sky, and clouds too. I would like to have less exposure on the cars, and more on the sky. that'd be cool, but I didn't want to change it to that with photoshop.

Geez Matt, look at that highway! There's a huge section that looks like an earthquake damage poster. LOL. You DRIVE on that?

It's funny you mention earthquake damage... about 200 yards further south (BEHIND the camera) is an overpass that collapsed during the earthquake in 1994. A police officer rode his motorcycle clear off of the collapsed overpass in the dark, and was killed. They named it after him to comemorate.

I've been watching the forums for the past couple of months, but not much is said about post processing. They mainly focus on hardware, which I'm also interested in...

Dpreview's forum is aight....too many haters and people too concentrated on the hardware rather then the art of photography. Try Fredmiranda.com instead, I think the people on their forum have more to say then just hardware...at least they don't all flock to "When's the next 40D coming out?
